South Korea national rugby union team → Korea national rugby union team — Relisted. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 16:03, 30 May 2010 (UTC) In the same way that South Koea competes as "Korea" in basketball and field hockey, and as "Korea Republic in [[football, so too is Korea the official terminology for the rugby team. While rugby union in South Korea is a minor sport, with the national team competing until very recently in the first division of the Asian Five Nations, the sport has no presence in North Korea and there is no North Korean national team. The governing body of the sport in South Korea is known as the Korea Rugby Union and the International Rugby Board refers to the team exlusively as "Korea".[1] 84.92.117.93 (talk) 17:02, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose, at least in the suggested form. Although North Korea does not have a rugby prescience, I don't think the suggested name is appropriate. I could support Korea Republic national rugby union team, Korea Republic rugby union team or the current.     • With due respect, this move request is not politically motivated, and authoritative and reliable sources refer to the team as "Korea"; the rugby team is not known as "Korea Republic" any more than it is known as "Korea". In football, the situation is quite different with FIFA recognising the team as "Korea Republic" to distinguish it from the North Korean side, which FIFA recognises as Korea DPR. The situation in rugby is very different from that of football, as there is no North Korean team. I don't think its Wikipedia's role to determine what the name of a team is; Wikipedia, as an online encyclopaedia, should be a tertiary source. 84.92.117.93 (talk) 22:26, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

        • I can only re-stress that it is not the role of Wikipedia to determine the name of the team; there are plenty of reliable references which refer to the team as "Korea", very few, if any, which rerfer to it as "South Korea". I understand your opposition, because the Korean peninsula is divided as you say. South Korea national rugby union team → Korea national rugby union team — Relisted to garner a larger audience.

Korea is the official name for the rugby team and is listed as Korea by both the International Rugby Board[2] and the Asian Rugby Football Union[3]. In other sports, South Korea competes as Korea in basketball, football and field hockey, and is listed and named at Korea national sport team for these, so precedent does exist for this move. --Bob247 (talk) 00:32, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment - Is this team representative of Korea as a whole (both North and South Korea) or does it merely represent South Korea? Yes they are South Korea...[edit]

The IRB refers to them as "Korea", however they are no such thing, since they only represent South Korea, and North Koreans would not be allowed to play for the team.--MacRusgail (talk) 11:41, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in South Korea national rugby union team[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of South Korea national rugby union team's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
