Southhampton or Southampton[edit]

The nautical charts show Southhampton (double h) as the spelling for this location. --Kevin Murray (talk) 21:40, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The US Gazetteer and almost every other reference gives "Southampton Shoal" with a single 'h' and no plural. see [1]. I see that nautical charts use a double 'h', but almost nothing else follows this spelling. It seems that it would be better to rename the article to Southampton Shoal Light with a redirect from the double 'h' spelling and a mention of this alternative spelling in the article.
