why[edit]

Seperate Southern- and South Central Bell pages are unnecessary because they are now the same company and share a common history, the single BellSouth Telecommunications page was fine. Also, theres no reason to reinvent the infobox (see the code on other company/corporation articles like New York Telephone).—Preceding unsigned comment added by X570 (talkcontribs)

That's the way it was pre-1984, and it should be covered in the same manner. I have left the BellSouth Telecommunications alone (in fact it's included at part of the bell system templete) But was not around pre-1984(it did not come into being until 1992)(Ke5crz 14:17, 23 January 2007 (UTC))[reply]

It doesn't matter how it was pre-84. Southern Bell and South Central Bell existed as the same company it was before 84 until 1992 when South Central Bell was merged back into Southern Bell which was then renamed BellSouth Telecommunications. Even before the divestiture, the Operating Companies were constantly evolving, splitting and merging, and divestiture was really a business reorganization, no earth shattering changes. The information in both articles you created just repeats what's already covered in the BellSouth Telecommunications, and doesn't even link to that article, and even though I've come to see some value in your Bell System template, I see no value in seperate pages for BellSouth Telecommunications, Southern Bell, and South Central Bell; because they are all the same company.

I, KansasCity, and a number of other contributers have steadily shaped AT&T coverage on WikiPedia into thorough and factually accurate articles, but of course theres always room for improvement. As a newcomer, I suggest, instead of barging in here and making all kinds of changes, read the existing articles, and of course, make constructive contributions, rather coming here with and completely rearranging the furniture that others before you worked so hard to already come to a consensous on how these topics should be covered. Also if you really feel a major change should be made always suggest it on the article's Discussion page before just going with it. X570 03:36, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
