Problems with the Articles

[edit]

I've noticed some problems with this article...Here are the problems:

1.)When I tried to check reference Milford Sound Transport - Issues and Options it came up with the following message; "Page Not Found We're sorry but the page you are looking for does not exist on this site, or its location has changed. The SouthlandNZ website has been recently upgraded, and while all the content from the old site is still available (and lots more new content as well!) the location of many pages has changed. Please use the menu in the tabs above, or the search box below to find the information you're looking for."

2.)The following links (from the External links section) will not load for me, is anyone else experiencing the same problem or is it just me?

3.)When writing the infobox I came across a problem with the size of Southland, the size is different on a few articles.
32,605+1,251+491=34,347 (km2) - Territorial authorities of New Zealand
32,079 (km2) - Southland Regional Council
28,681 (km2) - This article
Also according to the Otago Region article Otago "the country's second largest region" it also states the size of Otago is "31,241km2" (the largest region in New Zealand is Canterbury, 45,346km2)...Which would mean the bottom measurement is the only one of those measurements that could be correct. --South Islander (talk) 22:21, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed the regional council link. Daveosaurus (talk) 06:42, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Climate

[edit]

Attention, any interested party. I have written the climate section to the best I can but I would not mind it if someone is kind enough to go through the section to verify it. Feel free to add additional information which will be useful to the article. 125.236.161.251 12:23, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Population

[edit]

Approximately 94.3% of population has European lineage with most being of Scottish stock due to the longtime Scottish presence in the early 19th century. Māori comprise about 10% of the population This makes me wonder... What about the remaining -4.3%? Would be good if someone could check the figures. The result of the move request was: page moved. I note that this is moving it back to where it was two years ago, and that there were several other previous moves. Andrewa (talk) 02:16, 4 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Southland RegionSouthland, New Zealand – This is one of a series of ongoing discussions about the names of the regions of New Zealand. The common name of most of the NZ regions seems to be the name of the region without the word "Region". This was a recent discussion that applied to this article, where it was argued by some that "Southland (region)" is inappropriately ambiguous. Given Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(geographic_names)#Disambiguation and WP:NATURAL, I believe that the proposed name is probably the best in this case. Climate section

[edit]

Just being picky ... Wondering whether it's right to talk about "proximity to the South Pole" when it's at latitude 45 south, basically equidistant between the equator 0 degrees and the pole (90 degrees). We don't think of Milan and Venice (both 45north) as being near the North Pole. Piwaiwaka (talk) 07:41, 6 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Land mass seperates Milan and Venice from the Arctic, but the only thing separating Southland from Antarctica is the ocean. Ollieinc (talk) 08:06, 6 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
