I don't understand this article. The title seems to imply that both the Southport and St Anne's lifeboats were lost, but all the article says about the St. Annes lifeboat is that it launched, rowed out to five hundred yards, and then sailed to a point two miles off Southport.

The article clearly states that 13 crew of the Southport lifeboat were lost. And later that 28 lifeboatmen were lost in total. And the quotation does sound like it is talking about a different incident to the one that hit the Southport boat. So it does sound likely a second boat was lost, but nowhere does the article say this. It is almost as if there is some text missing.

Ah. Having reviewed the history, I understand. Back in April Avriette was doing cleanup work on this article, and changed the order of two paragraphs. This orphaned the quote, which was intended to continue the story of the St Annes lifeboat, and made it look like it was talking about the Southport boat (or even the Lytham one that survived). I've changed the para ordering back to the original, which I think makes things clearer. -- Chris j wood 11:57, 21 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
