The excellent images that accompanied this entry have been deleted by Wikipedia for reasons unknown. I deleted the image link since it left an unslightly blank hole in the page.Cokerwr 22:30, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It needs to be made clear that the TV series came first and the radio show became part of the mix once the show was a hit. The impression one gets now from the entry is the reverse. In fact, the television series should be a separate entry.

Clarify radio vs TV premiere[edit]

As noted above, the article contradicts itself regarding the radio and TV premieres. the article states that the TV series debuted in September 1950. It also says that the radio series debuted in June 1950 but also says that the TV series spawned a radio version. Very confusing. Otto4711 (talk) 05:58, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment comment[edit]

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Space Patrol (1950 TV series)/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

Space Patrol was an early live TV series which had a concurrent radio version for part of it's run - not a radio show with a concurrent TV version, as the article states. The program began as a weekday afternoon program on ABC's owned and operated station in Los Angeles before becoming a Saturday morning ABC-TV network show - then a radio show. In the early 50s, the FCC had imposed a freeze on new TV stations. Much of the country had no TV. Many cities had only one or two stations (so many network programs were not carried there). Many early TV shows had moved from radio. But some others, which became popular on TV, were given radio versions to reach an audience which did not yet have access to television. Space Patrol was one of these. This article should be reclassified to reflect Space Patrol as a TV show (as was Tom Corbett, Space Cadet which also had a radio version).

High Adventure[edit]

I watched this TV show Saturday mornings in the early 50s. One thing I remember fondly was the lead-in: "High adventure in the wild, vast reaches of space! Missions of daring in the name of interplanetary justice! Travel into the future with Buzz Corey, Commander-in-Chief of the SPACE PATRO-O-O-O-OL!"

This is important, now that Trump wants to create a Space Patrol... Credit where it's due! 47.138.219.215 (talk) 01:34, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
