COI and UDP tag[edit]

Article was created by an editor who claimed this image [1] as their own work on the commons, and I can not find the image online (which would imply copyright infringement). This implies a close connection between the uploader and the subject. Pinging @Bdatech: (the AC and image uploader) for comment.--SamHolt6 (talk) 01:39, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The image appears on Instagram with a username implying it is the subject's official account. Claim of "own work" seems a bit dubious, under the circumstances; the contributor's comments on their talk page may indicate that they are a volunteer? But one of the two possiblities, copyvio or close connection, seems likely; just can't tell which, yet. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 07:52, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
As per the history of the image (commons:File:Spandana Palli.jpg) Bdatech uploaded this file yesterday but the main subject of this image posted it on their Instagram today, isn't this sound fishy? GSS (talk|c|em) 11:43, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@GSS .. Please refer Spandana Palli official instagram account. Photo is uploaded on 21st May 2018. As this is my first edit. I did some mistake in which I need help of Wikipedia voluteers to be rectify. Bdatech (talk) 12:26, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Although I have clarified that I am not being paid for this article. I am beginner so I took reference of Sana Dua for this article. I read alot of beauty pageant pages before writing this article but still I am uable to resolve and being targeted from different sources. I am not expert like @Geo_Swan [1] to save this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Am2623 (talkcontribs) 18:31, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Am2623: Thanks for your comments about my work on Sana Dua. I am not actual an expert on beauty queens, however.
  • I know it is extremely unpleasant to have your contributions challenged, as a new contributor. It remains unpleasant for old-timers, although we may understand the jargon.
  • Never let anyone say "Your person is not notable, since they are just an ordinary XYZ" -- when they are both an XYZ and something else. You wrote that Ms Palli is both a beauty queen and a national level volleyball player? That is two things. Even if there was not enough coverage of her for either of those things to establish her notability, you could still try to argue that combined they pushed her over the thresh-hold of enough notability for a standalone article.
  • If you can find an interview or two where the interviewer says something like "Ms Palli is using the attention she earned as a beauty queen (or volleyball player) to speak out on the issue that matters most to her -- the education of women and girls" that would go a long way to establishing her notability.
  • I took the liberty of copying the last version you worked on to a non-WMF wiki, with less stringent inclusion criteria.
  • Don't hesitate to ask if you have more questions. You can use email, if you like. Cheers! Geo Swan (talk) 19:58, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • Ms Palli has been a prominent volunteer for the NGO Chhattisgarh Mahila Manch? Maybe that would be a good topic for you? If Ms Palli doesn't measure up to a standalone article you could include some relevant coverage of her in that article. Geo Swan (talk) 20:15, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect[edit]

During cleanup, it became apparent to me the subject of the article fails WP:NPERSON so I went ahead and redirected the page to Femina Miss India 2018. If you disagree, feel free to undo and we can take the article to AfD. 78.28.45.127 (talk) 16:50, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Kindly refer my discussion on "the subject of the article doesn't fails WP:NPERSON" and I will request you to kindly remove redirection please. Am2623 (talk) 14:15, 24 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have shown some reference to remove the article from redirection but i didn't got any further instruction from editiors.. Requesting you to kindly help me in my acticle and remove its redirection. Am2623 (talk) 11:40, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Am2623: You did receive instructions: undo the redirect and add your reference. You've been warned that the most likely next step is a discussion at AfD. To defend NPERSON, you'll need to tie your claims to specific criteria. My opinion is that your subject, as a runner up and not a winner, probably fails to meet the minimum standard. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 16:19, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

the subject of the article doesn't fails WP:NPERSON[edit]

Subject of article had alot of achievements in all the fields
in sports : National Volleyball Player
in dance : trained classical dancer
Education : MBA
Beauty Pageants : Femina Miss India Chhattisgarh 2018, Miss Icon Chhattisgarh 2017 , Miss Gateaway Goddess
Social work : Bunch of fools, Chattisgarh Mahila Manch.
also subject is first lady from chhattisgarh to represent her state in Femina Miss India. While doing research I found being an India girl, Subject has achieved remarkable height. A small article on this subject will be motivational for all the girls.

None of this is sufficient considering the references at our disposal. There might be some more available in Hindi, which I don't speak. Considering this possibility, I'll give you 24 hours to come up with some additional sources before I take this to WP:AfD. In the meantime, it would probably be advisable to restore this version of the page, but considering that the article's days are numbered, I won't insist on it. 78.28.45.127 (talk) 17:32, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like someone restored my redirect. I'm not sure how to feel about that. On the one hand, it's what the future had in store for the page anyway; on the other hand, there's no WP:DEADLINE, is there? Hm. Please do try to find some additional sources; they are what makes or breaks an article after all. 78.28.45.127 (talk) 17:55, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I am not expect like you all. So I request you to give time to me for collecting more references but till then restore my article as it was. It will keep me focused to find out relevant sources. Am2623 (talk) 19:09, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I tried finding more references about this subject but all are in newspapers which is not digital form. How I can use that as reference ( many cities of India is still not advance in digital field. so we should consider paper news also. )Am2623 (talk) 17:17, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • You are allowed to make references to newspapers, and other publications, that are not online. So long as you provide enough information that a really dedicated reader could find a paper copy, through their library, you are good to go. Are you familiar with how to use templates? In particular, the {{cite news}} (Template:cite news) has fields for the name of the publication, article title, author, date -- information the dedicated reader needs if they are going to search for that paper copy.
I hope this helps.
Cheers! Geo Swan (talk) 05:17, 24 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I am really thank you for your help. I am putting some reference now for so that article can be republished ( break redirection) that will enable me to put more references there.

Some editor are purposely trying to demoralised new contributor[edit]

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to request all my editor friends not to demoralised new contributor rather we should appreciate their efforts. Deleting or redirecting page should be the last options for us. 60.254.66.99 (talk) 15:05, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Samholt6 You are requested not force someone to leave Wikipedia. While reviewing you have not even tried to add any references or asked other contributor to help on this topic. You should have suggested/helped major contributor in his first article.60.254.66.99 (talk) 15:12, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Noted, but Wikipedia's policies on consensus and article notability are clear. This redirect has been enforced by several experienced editors, and so the consensus is clearly to maintain the redirect. My suggestion would be to create a draft article (Draft:Spandana Pall in this case) and then send the article through WP:AFC, or follow the advice in the threads above. Continuously trying to force an article onto Wikipedia is not going to be productive.--SamHolt6 (talk) 18:00, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
