Translation from the Italian Wikipedia[edit]

Below is a Google translation of an unsourced text an IP editor published in the Italian Wikipedia on 13 Sep. 2015 [1]. I place it here as the nature of this award is not made clear in the article yet and its scope may be confused with that of the Grand Jury Prize (Venice Film Festival). Given more research and hopefully reliable sources, the definition of this award should be expanded accordingly.

The Special Jury Prize is, after the Golden Lion and the Silver Lion - Grand Jury Prize, one of the most important prizes awarded during the Venice International Film Festival.

The award was created in 2013 together with the new title of the "Grand Jury Prize"; the two prizes are the homologues of the Grand Prix and the Prix du Jury assigned to Cannes and correspond to the second and third place after the Golden Lion for the best film. Before this edition, the "Grand Jury Prize" was often awarded under the title of "Special Jury Prize".

It is, therefore, a recognition attributed to a film that, although not the winner of the festival, however, stood out and was particularly appreciated by members of the international jury. Usually some aspects of the work are taken into account that do not contribute to the attribution of the first prize, but which confer an added value to the work, or it can be an indirect recognition attributed to the author of the work.

The statuette given to the winner consists of a non-precious metal Lion, to distinguish it from the Golden and Silver Lions.

Special Jury Priz (Venice Film Festival)Special Jury Prize (Venice Film Festival) – Move over redirect. Obvious mistake in title. However various moves have been performed in the past of this article, in connection also to Grand Jury Prize (Venice Film Festival), some done with mistaken titles and then corrected. Up to 2013 the two names of awards had not been clearly defined as two separate awards and the two names had been used variously. However since 2013 the two names constitute two separate official awards, clearly defined so by the festival. I asked an administrator to perform this move, but I was told it is not a mere technical issue and it would need discussion. However, I don't think anyone will discuss here, the article will remain as a separate award one, and the mistake in the title is quite an obvious one. Hi Ammarpad. TBH, I don't recall, but if you think it should be moved, per Hoverfish's rational above, then I Support it. Thanks for the ping. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 10:18, 13 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I don't really understand his rationale well. But seems to me like straightforward technical move, that's why I asked. Thanks. –Ammarpad (talk) 10:23, 13 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
