Mitrella mesnyi

[edit]

Melodorum looks so superficially similar to Mitrella mesnyi. It's possible these two taxa are one in the same. Any botanist out there wants to chime in? Mitrella mesnyi was previously Unona mesnyi. Unona mesnyi was also described in Thailand a very long time ago, but there are no modern references to this species in Thailand. My guess is some botanist in Thailand reclassified Unona mesnyi to Melodorum fruticosum. While in Vietnam and Cambodia, Unona mesnyi was reclassified to Mitrella mesnyi. Again, this is just my speculation. --Dara (talk) 20:26, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This website ([botanyvn.com]) lists Melodorum fruticosum as a synonym of Mitrella mesnyi. Melodorum fruticosum auct. non Lour. Note the auct. non part of it. --Dara (talk) 03:21, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

2024 update

[edit]

I've renamed the page to Sphaerocoryne lefevrei and rewritten the article based on current information. Still need help with the Wikidata items. See WT:WikiProject Plants#Need help sorting out Sphaerocoryne lefevrei for details. --Paul_012 (talk) 14:19, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
