From 2007 TBA album???[edit]

How did this get messed up? Spinning Around is from Light Years. 216.70.147.136 17:48, 16 May 2007 (UTC)Jeicyn[reply]

I thought Paula Abdul co-wrote this - this is what is said on her wiki page. (149.117.23.28 19:50, 17 May 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:32 spinning around.jpg[edit]

Image:32 spinning around.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 05:28, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Paula's so-called writing of the song[edit]

How do we incorporate this into the article?: A little behind-the-scenes anecdote and other miscellany

Hadn't caught up with the comments for a while, and I'm still reeling from the scholarly debate on the issue of songwriting (not to mention the one about eligibility for past contestants). The degree of seriousness with which you take these issues is eternally impressive to me -- the Blog Pound should be hired on as a special expert focus group by the Idol powers.

Anyway, I have little or nothing to add on those points at the moment, I did want to mention, if I forgot, that Chris Sligh sold 300, down from 400, for a total of 10,000 according to Nielsen SoundScan, and, as always, his Christian bookstore sales (not tabulated by SoundScan) are likely a good deal higher.

I also wanted to thank bigz for clearing up the mystery of the song Kara wrote for Carrie (Sometimes You Leave, an addition to a later version of her first album).

Speaking of Kara, I haven't been able to drive out of my head the puzzling concept of her and Paula writing a song together (Spinning Around, recorded by Kylie Minogue). But I did hear, through a source from the song publishing business whom I consider unimpeachable, an off-the-record anecdote explaining this "collaboration" a little better.

Seems Kara and two songwriting partners, through their publisher, were pitching the song Spinning Around, and Paula, in the midst of attempting a comeback album, wanted to record it. She changed a few words around and thus wangled a co-writing credit (a not-uncommon, though at times dubious, music-biz practice). Then she ended up not releasing it, and the song wound up in Kylie's hands. Not quite your full-partnership kind of songwriting collaboration.

There was one issue and I have fixed it --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 16:40, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Original research: Not present.
In depth

1. Lead section

  • Last paragraph: "lead" → "led" (I think, please correct me if I wrong, since my English isn't perfect, or near that)
No no you are absolutely right. Corrected --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 16:40, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

2. Reception

2.2. Critical reaction
  • Perhaps you should include more reviews of the song. Here's one from Blogcritics and other from NME; though if you consider they are unnecessary, feel free to keep the section as it is right now.
Those are great reviews! Thank you for providing them to me! I've included them now --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 16:40, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

5. Formats and track listings

  • I'm not sure if you can use Eli.com as a reliable source, though they always have correct information on promotional singles and releases, so keep it.
Even I thought so, but then again the information is indeed correct. --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 16:40, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

6. Charts & 7. Certifications

  • You could just merge the two sections, insert the certifications table in the section and put it under a level 3 section 'Certifications'. Oh, and change title of Charts to 'Charts and certifications'. If you disagree with me though, just tell me.
Merged. --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 16:40, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Final comments
  • This article is very well done and was an interesting read. Once these tiny issues are corrected I'll pass it, though, you should consider nominating it for FA. Prism 14:56, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, thank you so much! I have addressed the issues now. I think I will put it up for peer review sometimes later and then FA nominate it. Thank you for the review and suggestion! --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 16:40, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Close paraphasing[edit]

I've rewritten a section on the hotpants that followed the source very closely both in structure and wording (identical phrasing in some places) to avoid the restrictions on Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing, so please don't revert my changes directly, though if better wording is available (and it always is) you can, of course, replace it. Ira Shickman - name spelling issue according to Google Search Engine[edit]

I just wanted to mention that this article mention Ira Shickman without any link to a specific Wikipedia article, so I went to Google and typed it and Google suggested I should try the alternative spelling and it looks like alternative spelled Ira Schikman is indeed a song writer. Are both spelling acceptable or is there a spelling error in this article. (also would like to say that it is very intimidating to even write in the talk page of a wikipedia article for the first time). Aaroneiffel (talk) 13:22, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
