Spelling

[edit]

The article has been moved from Sreenidhi to Sreenidi citing [1]

However, the official website uses mainly Sreenidhi in its text as well as its URL, and in the official logo currently shown there: https://www.sreenidhifc.com/about-us/

The I-League was also mentioned as a definitive source, but its website currently has 6 search results for Sreenidhi https://i-league.org/?s=sreenidhi and only 2 for Sreenidi https://i-league.org/?s=sreenidi (these overlap as the spelling is inconsistent).

Where did the updated "Sreenidi" logo in the article come from?

What are the "social media handles" using Sreenidi that were mentioned here? – Fayenatic London 19:09, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello ; @Fayenatic london: The club's official Twitter handle [2] and Instagram handle [3] both don't have letter "h" in the name. I think this would be helpful. Thanks–Poppified talk 19:22, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, and each of those displays these two lines:
  • Welcome to the official account of Sreenidhi Football Club
  • Welcome to the official account of Sreenidi Deccan Football Club
So the "h" is not used when the word "Deccan" is used.
But what is the difference between SFC and SDFC? – Fayenatic London 21:14, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Actually Sreenidi Football Club was founded as football academy back in 2015 as per sources. They took corporate bid for I-League back in 2019 and they won bid to play in I-League 2020-21 Season.Last month during team launch event club made changes to logo and club name.[4][5]. Now club's name is Sreenidi Deccan FC.[6] this source is club registration in AIFF the football federation of India also says clubs name is Sreenidi Deccan FC.ThanksPoppified talk 05:10, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Fayenatic london: Agree with Poppified. AIFF is the governing body of Indian football. They say it is "Sreenidi Deccan FC". The club's social media handles' main name is also the same. The club's name has Deccan in it. Constituting this factor with their official website, I think this is enough to move it from "Sreenidhi Deccan FC" to "Sreenidi Deccan FC". Thanks. It doesn't help that ref [4] above from TheHindu.com uses "Sreenidhi Deccan". But it looks as if TheHindu was mistaken, as was GoingBatty who created the categories using that spelling. GoingBatty: any comment? if not, I intend to process the category renames. – Fayenatic London 08:24, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Fayenatic london: To make it clear, GoingBatty created the category upon my request, as at that time, I didn't knew how to create one. Ken Tony Shall we discuss? 10:49, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I'll accept that in good faith, and process the renames. – Fayenatic London 12:18, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Fayenatic london: I created the categories with the same spelling as was used in the article and the image in the article at the time. No objection to you changing the categories. GoingBatty (talk) 12:24, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Fayenatic london. Appreciate it! Ken Tony Shall we discuss? 12:27, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
