This page has some descriptions that do not match the general English speaking community in Sri Lanka. Sri lankan people who have a knowledge in English wouldn't dare to mixup "v" and "w" with the lips, nor would they have problems pronouncing "Exercise" as "Excise", 'Secretary' as 'Secetry' (se-ket-ri) and 'Secondary' as 'Secondry' (second-ri), Inventory' as 'Inventri' or 'Inventry' by dropping the 'o', Carpet' as 'Capat' and 'Market' as 'Makat', raw' and 'row' (Similarly, 'saw' and 'sow' and 'so'), 'Ya' instead of 'Air' such as in 'Airport' if they have learned their basic spelling and pronouncing. Its not ethical to introduce these as Sri Lankan English as it will confuse future users of this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stringhoppergirl (talkcontribs) 20:48, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This page explains the difference using American English as a standard. It would make far more sense to point out the differences from the locus of the Queens's English (Standard English and Received Pronunciation). After all, Sri Lanka was formerly a British colony, and Sri Lankan English is based on British English rather than American. For another, well, it is called "English" and not "American" for a reason. 94.5.50.209 (talk) 06:29, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sringlish?

[edit]

That kind of word is my personal suggestion, if needed. (Possibly Serendipitlish, for a more colorful nickname of affection.) --Lo Ximiendo (talk) 06:25, 18 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Major copyedit

[edit]

Hi there. I think it could be time to start improving this article. I 'will' be ruthless in the copyedit but only with the aim of making a solid basis on which to reconstitute it as everyone wishes. Regards to all, Myrtle.Myrtlegroggins (talk) 11:03, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I think the basics are now done with the use of tables etc but much more work needs to be done to verify and reference the information.
