Rheinheitsgebot marketing nonsense

Many brewers, especially German brewers, claim to brew according to the Rheinheitsgebot of 1516. This is a false and misleading marketing claim. The 1516 purity law allows only three ingredients: barley, hops, and water. All modern industrial breweries in Germany (and most of the world) add yeast; rather than relying on the yeast present in the brewery environment, as was the norm in 1516. Most modern German breweries voluntarily abide by the 1980's German law (which is no longer in force). That law allows several other ingredients; for instance yeast, and hop extract (containing distilled grain alcohol). So, I will either delete the marketing claim; or at least label it as an untrue marketing claim, rather than pretending that it's true. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.19.205.5 (talk) 13:02, 5 September 2016 (UTC)
