Richardson Sons and Owden's warehouse[edit]

Hi there. I'm a bit confused about this! To my knowledge, the Marks & Sparks building is made up of the old Robinson & Cleaver department store (which Burger King is in too) and the old Belfast Water Commissioners building. Was the Commissioners' building previously Owden's?

By the way, the text of this is probably a little too close to [1], but I'm sure your church won't mind! Stu ’Bout ye! 09:24, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yup, this is confusing. See the table at Lanyon, Lynn and Lanyon for notes on the linen warehouse of 1864; I also found a note dating it (presumably the same one, as it was on Donegall Square) to 1869 and belonging to Richardson Sons; I omitted the connection to M&S, since I couldn't find it elsewhere. Tone and style[edit]

The cleanup tags placed at the top of this article denote that its tone and style don't reflect the encyclopaedic tone on Wikipedia. They've been here since 2007 and, while the article is very nicely written, none of the text is referenced and so smacks of original research, a concept which should not feature on Wikipedia pages.

I've made a start at improving the tone of the text, removing unencyclopaedic information and beginning a section of citations (and in doing so I hope I haven't trodden on any toes) but this article really needs some help to bring it up to standard, so that the cleanup tags can finally be removed. It could be an excellent article, if only citations can be found with evidence of the history, and architectural content and analysis of such that currently feature in the article.
