Delete?[edit]

The necessity of a wiki page on Stan Polley is rather dubious, especially if the bulk of it is in reference to Badfinger. Without more biographical information and details about his other artist-clients, this page probably could be blanked. ZincOrbie 16:43, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree it is relevant. The article provides information about what a complete piece of slime and garbage Polley is. So anyone searching the net for information about him can avoid being his next victim.Plan10 (talk) 13:55, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Blanked, no. You are free to nominate for deletion, that's how we get rid of articles on non-notable persons. The other option is this, if you believe that all of the information can be sucessfully moved into the Badfinger article:
  • You merge the content into Badfinger, and save that article
  • Then you clear this one of all content (apart from category assignment) and as the first line of this article you insert:
#redirect [[Badfinger]]
I'd urge you to consider whether a merge is possible and desirable, and if you want to do it either leave a note here asking for opinions or be bold and go ahead. I'd recommend against deletion, however, as I figure the guy is notable and the article worth keeping. --kingboyk 20:31, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've added quite a bit of info since my deletion suggestion (namely the criminal judgment in Riverside). I think it can hold up now on its own, especially if some more is added regarding Polley's management of Christie and Kooper. Polley also managed some lesser-known personalities like record producers and conductors that could be included.ZincOrbie 22:27, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm of the opinion that this one should stay here, since he managed other bands. But I think Pete Ham should be merged into Badfinger. What do you think? --kingboyk 20:39, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. Aside from the two posthumous CD releases, Ham really is not recognized outside of the Badfinger sphere.ZincOrbie 22:27, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sources[edit]

It might be best to start quoting sources, including page numbers if the Mantoniva (sp.?) book is used - not that I'd advocate using him as gospel; other sources ought ideally to be introduced. --kingboyk 16:16, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Will do. Unfortunately, most of my Wiki time is at my office, where I do not have access to my files (and Matovina's book). Although I do not advocate using Matovina's book as gospel either, I have confidence in its facts as the author is a stickler about accuracy; plus, I conducted many of its interviews, transcribed, edited, and read the legal papers and contracts cited in the book. Instead of relying on third-hand sources for info, Matovina went straight to the sources themselves in most instances. ZincOrbie 18:13, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Complete rework of the article[edit]

As this article was nominated for deletion, I am prepared to rework it so it will better meet WP standards. However, I also do not wish to spend any lengthy time doing this if it is ultimately deemed unworthy due to the subject. I will wait and see how the nomination process unfolds before I attempt a rewrite.-- ZincOrbie (talk) 23:53, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Changed "..blamed Polley for his death" to "...indirectly blamed Polley for his death."[edit]

I changed the line that discussed Pete Ham's suicide. It previously read, "...[Ham] blamed Polley for his death." I changed it to, "...[Ham] indirectly blamed Polley for his death," because Ham's suicide note had as the only reference to Polley a post-script that read, "Stan Polley is a soul-less bastard. I will take him with me." Although people with background knowledge of the Badfinger-Polley drama can make inferences, and the fact that Polley is the only other person referenced besides Ham's girlfriend and unborn child certainly adds context to the note, the actual text of the suicide note does not clearly state why Ham thought what he did of Polley; nor does it directly state what bearing Ham's relationship with Polley had on his decision to commit suicide. Someone trimmed off half of the article which included your edit. I restored it. Hopefully it will remain. -- ZincOrbie (talk) 22:14, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There doesn't seem to be much ambiguity, it's obvious from Ham's note that Ham did blame Polley for his impending suicide. There is nothing "indirect" about it. Perhaps a better way to phrase it would be "Ham blamed Polley for the circumstances which lead to his suicide". Plan10 (talk) 13:37, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, please keep this article if for no other reason than to have a link from the Badfinger site and expand even a little bit on what a creep this guy is. If you appreciate Badfinger even a little you can imagine what was taken from the music world when Pete Ham committed suicide. Emmetlang (talk) 05:06, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Death citation[edit]

At some point, someone added the "citation needed" tag for Polley's death date. I find this strange since I've never seen such a thing on any other article of a deceased person. At any rate, Polley's death date can be found in the United States Social Security Records database online. ZincOrbie (talk) 00:22, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's normal to provide sources for all dates, if available, whether the subject is alive or not? i.e. birth, marriage and death. If you know where that record is, online, I think it would be useful to add it. Martinevans123 (talk) 11:18, 27 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any source for the connection between Polley and The Wigs? Nothing seems to be mentioned in the Dan Matovina book. Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 09:51, 25 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
