I shortened some of the lists, and cleaned it up a bit, i dont know if thats enough to take the flag off. but god-damn, it was crazy.

campus design

The campus newspaper did a whole article about the campus being designed for an Arizona location resulting in higher winds; this is actually an urban legend that is said about a few colleges. Fredonia is just a windy area with an unfortunate design that causes lots of wind to be channeled, but not because of a misplaced design.

Marked as POV-check because of the section related to "The Leader". The comment above does not indicate fact, but rather expresses an opinion. Calling the newspaper an embarrassment does not lead to journalistic or factual integrity.

I have made edits to the SUNY Fredonia Wikipedia page to update outdated information. I am currently a Public Relations intern, working in the Public Relations office. I will add citations in the near future, to legitimize the assertions I have made. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lope6516 (talkcontribs) 22:07, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

Addition of Gernatt Family of Companies Operations Manager as prominent alumnus

User:Daniellagreen, a single-purpose account whose edits appear to only be related to Gernatt Family of Companies, recently added to this article's Alumni section a mention of the company's operations manager. I objected to the edit and reverted it but he or she began an edit war instead of opening a discussion. I continue to believe that it's unnecessary and inappropriate to include this individual in this section alongside Dr. Benjamin Franklin Goodrich 1857- Founder of B.F.Goodrich tire company, James H. McGraw 1884 - Founder of McGraw-Hill Companies Set a higher standard for industrial journalists., Louis Boyer '65 - Owner of Polyloom Corporation of America, was the first to develop artificial turf, and Karl Holz '73 - President of Disney Cruise Lines. It doesn't seem likely that the operations manager of nearly any company is comparable to that list of distinguished alumni. I propose again removing this entry pending further discussion and evidence that this person rises to the level of inclusion in this article. ElKevbo (talk) 03:43, 2 November 2013 (UTC)

It is my understanding from two other reviewer/editors that red-linked individuals may be maintained in an article and not removed, particularly for purposes of search of them on Wikipedia in order to locate articles about them. You have included alums that are more notable than others. Certainly Gernatt is notable, particularly in Western New York State and New York State. You could have also placed this on a talk page rather than simply deleting my addition and blaming me. Also, you deleted two of my recent entries, one to UB and the present one here. I request your insight and consideration regarding what I have asked here. Daniellagreen (talk) 03:56, 2 November 2013 (UTC)
Please address the issue at hand: How does is this person of comparable noteworthiness as the others already listed in this article? How does it help readers understand the essentials of this university by including this person as an alumnus?
Incidentally, many colleges and universities have separate articles that are simply lists of prominent alumni. This person might be worth including in such a list if one exists. I simply don't think this person is worth including in this article where are trying to summarize the entire history, organization, and administration of this university. We have to be selective in what we include in this article and it doesn't seem worthwhile to include the operations manager of a mid-sized company unless that person has done something else extraordinary meriting our attention. ElKevbo (talk) 04:17, 2 November 2013 (UTC)
Also note that I did talk to you about both of my additions and your deletions on your talk page. In my opinion, it is you who started the edit war by deleting my additions. Again, I believe some consideration is relevant here. Daniellagreen (talk) 03:59, 2 November 2013 (UTC)
No, the edit war was started when you reverted my initial reversion. In general, we try to abide by a process of Bold, Revert, Discuss: You're encouraging to make a bold edit, others are permitted to revert that edit, and then we should begin a discussion. It's not Bold, Revert, Revert, Hope Someone Else Begins a Discussion. But I suggest forgetting about the technicalities and focusing on discussing the material you'd like added to this article. ElKevbo (talk) 04:17, 2 November 2013 (UTC)

In general the test for article content (as opposed to article subjects) is not notability but rather whether the content adds significantly to the reader's understanding of the subject (whatever that means) but "Prominent/Notable Alumni" lists typically do use notability as a bright line. That the person has no article now doesn't matter, but if not, it does matter whether the person qualifies for one in future i.e. whether he's notable. I've poked around and this person doesn't seem notable, so shouldn't be listed. EEng (talk) 14:14, 2 November 2013 (UTC)

EEng, This is also my thinking and where I'm coming from, in general. I look at it from the standpoint of what can the inclusion of this person add to the article. There seems to be a great concern about what the person cannot add to the article or what the person has not done. Please see the three footnotes that I previously added on his line to provide noteworthiness. There are others that can be included too. I had hoped that by adding more footnotes that it would be somewhat more evident about his noteworthiness.
Also, BTW, to ElKevbo, it seems to me that you have escalated this situation, which is fine. I can live with the outcome. It just seems to me that you may want your way over considering a different point of view. At any rate, I am offended for you to assume and misjudge that my sole purpose is about the Gernatt Family of Companies. Being fairly new to Wikipedia and being active for less than two months, my first article (aforementioned) was published. I am very proud of that, and take offense to your attempts at detracting from that. Additionally, I have done editing and revisions on other articles, as well, including New York State Attorney General. That is actually where I learned more about redlinks after having expanded on people and references in the article already provided. It appears to me that you and I could have carried on this conversation between ourselves, as I attempted to do, without your escalation of it. It's really no skin off my nose. Mr. Gernatt is notable, and has proven that, particularly in and around WNY and NYS. From what I have understood from other editors, however, there is a purpose that a contributor is trying to accomplish by including and redlinking someone, and it seems to me that my purpose is not being understood or respected. Daniellagreen (talk) 17:01, 2 November 2013 (UTC)
You seem to misunderstand Wikipedia's notion of notability -- see WP:GNG. The three references already in the article constitute routine coverage and passing mentions, and are of no notability value at all. You say you know of other citations -- why don't you just list them here as URLs -- no need to format them formally yet -- so we can see them.
I understand your feeling hurt, but other editors cannot read your mind and have only your edits to go on. And the fact is that your edit history would have raised the same suspicions in my mind that they have in ElKevbo's. And, sorry to say, in looking for additional coverage on D. Gernatt I immediately ran into something else that adds to that suspicion, which is your history of uploads at Commons [1]. Each of these images -- personal photos of Gernatt family members and Gernatt company facilities -- was marked by you as "own work". If that's true that's hard to explain except by your being personally connected to the family. Is that true, or not? EEng (talk) 20:32, 2 November 2013 (UTC)
It's fine, and you can do what you like, as it appears that has already been done on many occasions in regard to my contributions to this page. To EEng, you do not recognize an honest person when you see one, and I also take offense to your unnecessary inquiries. I am offended by both of you, and I am going to be the bigger person and step out of this argument that you all have created. Daniellagreen (talk) 00:26, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
I don't doubt you're an honest person, but you need to stop being angry at people who are trying to help you learn how to get along here at Wikipedia. By "stepping out" you're not being the bigger person, but rather avoiding putting in the effort of doing that. EEng (talk) 02:21, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

Brocton - College Lodge

The College Lodge is several miles from Brocton and is almost as close to Stockton. On the plus side, the website for the College Lodge does state its location as Brocton, but growing up in Chautauqua I never thought of it as being connected in any way to Brocton. It's more like a separate place between Stockton and Brocton. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.235.210.181 (talk) 16:47, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
