Putnam died in 1950, so he didn't sell the paper in 1953, though the paper may have been sold then. Maybe his estate sold it. Also, since he apparently wasn't living in Salem, but had moved back to the east coast, it would be interesting to learn more about his absentee editorship. I respect the Salem Online History source from which the Putnam info was referenced, but it's not always 100%, so we should try to find more sources... Circulation much smaller

The circulation figures are from 2012 - 11 years ago! The circulation is significantly smaller today, though papers don’t release the numbers anymore. Ocwarner (talk) 22:22, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
