Not sure about the "first time in English history" part. What about gavelkind? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.196.8.153 (talk) 23:25, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The word "bequest" in the second sentence("...permitting bequest by will".)should be replaced by 'devise'. 'Bequest' is a testamentary gift of chattels, a 'devise' is a testamentary gift of realty. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.212.80.149 (talk) 23:57, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fee simple and Fee tail?

[edit]

Can someone explain how this relates to the concepts of fee simple and fee tail? Did the law only apply to the former? LastDodo (talk) 11:38, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
