Coat of Arms

I agree with most of the things you have mentioned here. However please keep in mind two very important things. Coats of arms of feudal rulers do not always signify the real extent of their direct political rule. They could and quite often did include coats of arms of all the countries and regions that a particular ruler claimed, either due to complicated dynastic reasons, sake of tradition, political ambitions or simply wishful thinking. Coat of arms of English/British Kings included elements of Royal Coat of Arms of France up until the end of Napoleonic Wars.

Second important thing regarding especially Coats of Arms of Serbian medieval rulers is that the knowledge we have about most of them comes from secondary sources, mostly from publications created centuries later. Authenticity of these publications is usually tainted by socio-political conditions of particular age when they were created. I can notice very anachronistic coat of arms of Serbia proper on this illustration. None the less, it still represents a part of historical material on this ruler, and has it's pace on Wikipedia, even if more precise coat of arms of Uroš V is obtained. What is missing here is a clear label which would clarify the origin of this picture.

Please keep in mind, however, that presence of anachronistic or seemingly incorrect elements on a single illustration of a medieval ruler does not imply anything about current political situation, and refrain from possibly inflammatory remarks especially about nationalism.

The remark about rulers of medieval Bosnia controlling the faith of neighboring states, after he death of a particular ruler is irrelevant to the discussion about his coat of arms.

Legacy and modern views

I think a few sentences on how he is viewed popularly as a person and ruler wouldn't be out of place, so I'll add a small subsection to the article Moravats (talk) 14:54, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
