College Football

[edit]

Can I ask why my revision was undone? Steven played three years at Middlebury and then he enrolled at NC State post-graduation for a year because he had one season of eligibility left. I think it's a fair assessment to state that he played college football at both institutions and not just at NC State. Middlebury is where he got started in football and where he got his degree from; NC State was just an additional stop along the way to allow him to keep playing and boost his national profile. So I think both schools should be mentioned in the last sentence about his college football experience.

It should be put in a college career section. Only his last college attended is truly relevant when it comes to talking about him as an NFL player. The rest should go in an expanded section on his college career.►Chris NelsonHolla! 04:39, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
"Only his last college attended is truly relevant when it comes to talking about him as an NFL player." Seems to be some inconsistency here. Troy Aikmen has both on his. This is why Wiki will never be a serious source of information. A few people can pick and choose the rules, but then someone once said, some animals are more equal than others.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.15.231.195 (talk) 22:34, 2 February 2014‎ (UTC)[reply]
Other stuff existing is not the strongest argument, because the other one(s) may or my not need to be changed as well. You are more than welcome to help establish consensus, but don't be surprised that there are sometimes inconsistent arguments here, just as in the rest of the world.—Bagumba (talk) 23:47, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

Does anyone know why he spells his name 'Steven' when he was born 'Stephen'? Or is he actually 'Steven' on his birth certificate and the article's just wrong? – PeeJay 08:06, 19 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Stephen HauschkaSteven Hauschka – Article was moved from Steven Hauschka (the name he is commonly known by) to Stephen Hauschka (the spelling on his birth certificate) without discussion, on the heels of this Deadspin article. However, the subject has used the "Steven" spelling for his entire career. There is no evidence to suggest he is suddenly going by "Stephen" professionally.  ONR  (talk)  02:39, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Who cares what he is "going by" his name is spelled Stephen and that is what the title of this article should be. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:601:C600:E61B:4D1A:60AE:FC19:F4DC (talk) 03:39, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

WP:COMMONNAME suggests that we should use the version most commonly used in reliable sources. Since he himself has said that he doesn't want to change the way his name is spelled by the team or other sources, we should use the spelling they use, which is with a 'v'. We should use the correct spelling in the lede. Powers T 14:50, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Both spellings have been used by TV coverage in the past few days, but he prefers Steven. We should respect his preference.  ONR  (talk)  04:23, 24 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Steven HauschkaStephen Hauschka – In contrast to the last time this was discussed, NFL.com, ESPN, PFR and the Bills' official site all spell it this way now, as does Hauschka himself on his Instagram. pʰeːnuːmuː →‎ pʰiːnyːmyː → ‎ɸinimi → ‎fiɲimi 18:04, 7 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
