Current status: Good article

Previously there was a two-paragraph section devoted to a lawsuit (dropped before trial) about a man who registered a sponge comic strip's copyright in 2003 and later asked for $1.6 billion from Viacom. It's one of quite a few lawsuits that involve SpongeBob (ex. the Krusty Krab lawsuit from a while back), but the only one discussed here, and the section lists this person's claims as facts without giving the reader any information about Stephen Hillenburg. There is an even an external image of this person's comic strip linked in a box to the side. Reading through, this section violates the neutral point of view policy (particularly undue weight) in its placement on Hillenburg's page, with the section unintentionally writing in favor of the person who sued the companies. I have decided to be bold and remove the section for now, as it is not notable to Hillenburg as a topic (he was asked to create the educational book that started "SpongeBob" in the 1980s, long before the man set his story in the dropped lawsuit). This is a little similar to Squidward's voice actor and a DUI incident that was added to his page, then removed after a discussion I took part in. Jpcase said "the information could potentially carry some issues with neutrality, as well as undue weight," which I believe also applies here. Squittens (talk) 12:43, 20 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Squittens: I wrote this section years ago, when I tried to help make Stephen Hillenburg a GA. Reviewing your action, there is indeed undue weight in mentioning this incident. Thank you for deciding to remove it and upholding our policies. One question though, because I think it is still useful information and I find it interesting, do you think the removed section could be added to the Help Wanted article instead since it is about the comic's premise that is claimed in the lawsuit to be continued in the episode? Thanks for replying. While it's a little more relevant there, it seems too much like (potentially misleading) trivia to me. The Help Wanted article is solid as-is, covering the actual development and inspirations behind the episode. In my opinion, a section talking about "what the dropped lawsuit claimed to inspire" would only weigh the article down, and I wouldn't want to imply the episode's crew copied anything. Question[edit]

I just/only had a question, really…how come we’re not allowed to add cause of death…? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.68.2.104 (talk) 08:44, 2 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

Why do articles have celebrities addressed by family names instead of given names?
