Birth year

[edit]

I believe there is some doubt in the air as to him being born in 1936. A quick check of the birth register (assuming Stephen Cato is his real name and he was born in London) produces only one result born anywhere near this time. So is it possible his correct birth year in 1928? Crisso (talk) 22:16, 28 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Crisso. Stephen was born 17th December 1926 at All Saints Maternity Hospital, Poplar, London. He was born Stephen Lewis but took the stage name of Cato. He liked the sound of it. When he wrote the stage play of 'Sparrers Can't Sing' he was urged by his agent to use his real name. Stephen lives with his sister Connie in a nursing home. So this is him: http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/information.pl?cite=j%2FMJyIXsNjuxPEzzUjw74Q&scan=1. I'm sold on that. Crisso (talk) 13:06, 17 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I also found a birth entry for a Connie Lewis in Poplar with the same mother's maiden name [1]. So yep - this is genuine. Crisso (talk) 13:34, 17 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Variety Club

[edit]

Lewis was awarded the Variety Club Silver Heart Award in 1970 but I am not sure if it is notable enough to mention. MilborneOne (talk) 17:58, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Gay

[edit]

Why doesn't the article mention he was gay? (109.158.178.176 (talk) 17:51, 18 March 2016 (UTC))[reply]

Probably a few reasons, we dont have any reliable sources on his orientation and probably if we did it is not worth mentioning as it is not notable. MilborneOne (talk) 20:20, 18 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
