Conflict of interest self-disclosure by Sewtf3

[edit]

Steve Johnson's archivist is a friend of a friend and asked me to fact-check the page, make sure links work, and take a look at other Wikipedia special effect artists' pages to see what other types of sections, references, and neutral facts (supported by third-party reliable sources) might be appropriate for me to add to Steve's page. As thanks from Steve's archivist I will likely be receiving an Amazon gift card to buy some books or music. I've never before taken any sort of reward (physical or not) for editing Wikipedia pages. I agree neutrality is very difficult for people with conflicts of interest to achieve, and that paid editing can undermine the mission of Wikipedia. I became aware of the Reward Board when researching Wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines earlier this week, and when possible will try and point people in the future to it, instead of me directly taking on physically-rewarded work. Not to be rude, but you still have to comply to Wikipedia:Reliable Sources. And at this moment, the article fail big time on that. The Banner talk 23:36, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Date of Birth 1960 instead of 1961

[edit]

IMDB has date of birth as 1961 instead of 1960. Correct date of birth found on Ancestry.com in Texas Birth Index, 1903-1997 [database on-line]. Originally published on microfiche Texas Department of State Health Services. PDF available, which I've forwarded to IMDB. I'm currently researching the proper way to inline reference the Texas Birth Index. Sewtf3 (talk) 22:45, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"Early life" section

[edit]

A Wordpress.com and other similar blogs unfortunately cannot be used for a reference, especially for a living person as they do not have the oversight of an editorial staff and chief editor that online news sites, magazines, newspapers, books have. The artist interviews on the Stan Winston school website appear to have individual editors with more than one editor on staff, so it may not be as questionable. Still, these are the only two references for this section, so section likely needs changes to more than one sentence, additional references and material added, and sentences without proper references removed. See WP:Verify for more information. Sewtf3 (talk) 14:31, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
