Conflict of Interest

I have looked at the credits of File:Rivkin.jpg on Commons. These state that Sbsnet is the owner of the copyright of the picture of Rivkin and that Rivkin is the subject and copyright owner of the photograph.

This whole article is therefore a massive conflict of interest, because it is created by the subject of the article (0.9 probability) Fiddle Faddle (talk) 11:19, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Let me clarify a few things. I do know Steve Rivkin. In fact he is a former client, however the addition of his biography here resulted out of a conversation I had with him about why some of the co-autors of his books has a wiki page, and he did not. I explained that no-one ever created one for him and that I would do so for him. If my familiarity with him is grounds for deletion, so be it - but I would imagine as an autor with 5 books he deserves a bio here just like some of his co-authors have.

I did get the photo directly from Steve Rivkin and he owns all rights to it but agreed to use it on this site. If I attributed this wrong perhaps someone could lead me in right direction here.

Again I am new to posting on wikipedia, so please bear with me on this Sbsnet (talk) 17:25, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

On Commons you must put the attribution right. You also have to ensure that his permission is lodged with the relevant people. So go to Commons where there are likely to be further instructions. You can also ask a commons experienced person for help, possibly here by placing {{helpme}} on your personal talk page and describing the help that you need, or there (but I have no idea of the mechanism there). There are continued issues on this page that I've tagged. Virtually the entire article is sourced to self-published sources, that is websites for which Rivkin himself is the author. --Jay Tepper (talk) 14:54, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

File:Rivkin.jpg Nominated for Deletion

An image used in this article, File:Rivkin.jpg, has been nominated for deletion at Wikimedia Commons in the following category: Deletion requests April 2012
What should I do?

Don't panic; a discussion will now take place over on Commons about whether to remove the file. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion, although please review Commons guidelines before doing so.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.

To take part in any discussion, or to review a more detailed deletion rationale please visit the relevant image page (File:Rivkin.jpg)

This is Bot placed notification, another user has nominated/tagged the image --CommonsNotificationBot (talk) 16:29, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Resolve Remaining Issues

I'd like to resolve the remaining issues on this page. Last week I did make edits to the text to change the point of view and removed some wording that may have been puffery. I also added some reference and tried to resolve the attribution of the photo used. If there are still issues that need to be addressed, please advise Sbsnet (talk) 14:14, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

I'm new to wikipedia, but I am working with the "steve rivkin" to get a biography page listed for him. He is the author/co-author of 5 books and is mentioned on other biographhies such as that of Jack Trout. I will gladly reword to meet guidelines, but in my read thru the criteria, I thought It met them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sbsnet (talkcontribs)

  • The main problem is the notability of the person Wikipedia needs external resources to establish notability. Kyle1278 (talk) 19:39, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
    • Wikipedia need reliable sources, properly cited for the person to be considered notable. Non notable people should not have articles here. Show and assert his notability and you may well save the article. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 19:45, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
