Earlier adaptation than 1981[edit]

I remember seeing a TV adaptation of Stig of the Dump on the educational channel they used to sit us in front of in primary school. This would have been sometime between 1966 and 1969 (I can't pin it down exactly because it was too long ago).

Anyone out there remember this? It was very definitely before 1981. It was played during the morning, one day a week, probably about 10 or 11 a.m., as a series of several episodes. --Matt Westwood 23:59, 17 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Radio Times archive on BBC Genome shows that BBC1's "Merry-Go-Round" at 10:00 on 5th February 1968 included "an excerpt from Stig of the Dump by Clive King" as episode 3 of a series, which matches your recollection pretty well! Adam Sampson (talk) 22:32, 1 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I recall hearing the story being read out on the Jackanory programme on Children's Hour (5pm-ish) after coming home from primary school. This would have been shortly after publication in the mid-1960s. 2.27.56.198 (talk) 01:06, 9 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
