I thought Stihl was the inventor of the first chain saw — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.215.93.44 (talk) 18:26, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Stihl built the first chain saw in 1926, but it was electrically powered. Dolmar (www.dolmar.de) developed the first gasoline powered chainsaw in 1927. It required two persons for operation and could only make vertical cuts. Dolmar also developped the first chainsaw which could be handled by one person in 1952. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.159.218.120 (talk) 21:43, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Pronunciation

How is "Stihl" pronounced? —Ben FrantzDale (talk) 02:56, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Like steel or shteel depending on the German speaker's area of origin (shteel is more common, but in parts of Northern Germany, steel will probably be the dominating pronunciation.) Gestumblindi (talk) 23:25, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Model history timeline

Despite professing to know a bit about html, and some 20 years experience on the and in the web, I can find no easy way to add a complex table of the timeline of Stihl models.. if I can't do this, how does the average man contribute to wikipedia?

Here is the content should I ever get back to this.. or if someone else gets to it..
