IMDB is not a reliable source for casting

The cast list looks like fantasy speculation to me... any sources besides IMDB for the bulk of it? 71.131.205.5 (talk) 19:33, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

http://streetfightermovie.net/ production blog, disagree with the casting as much as you like, it's there. Though I can't verify the legitimacy of the site itself.Zelphi (talk) 11:57, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Name confusion

= The character names are incredibly confusing once you click on them. Who's playing who? If you click on M. Bison, it sends you to a wiki page that says M. Bison up top, refers to him as Bison in the article, and says he's also known as Vega. If you click Balrog, it says he is also known as M. Bison. If you click Vega, it says he is also known as Balrog. Who's who!?!?! 75.71.78.237 (talk) 21:50, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

The characters' names were swapped in the American vs. Japanese versions of the game. M. Bison in the US was Vega in Japan, etc.Addionne (talk) 23:05, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
The movie will use the US versions of the names. Addionne (talk) 23:05, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
WP:AGF aside, you would have to be incredibly knuckleheaded to not realize the articles refer to the American names. Bison is only called "Vega" in the section referring to the Japanese version. JuJube (talk) 04:15, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
Not sure there was a reason to be rude, was there? Addionne (talk) 12:20, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
You must admit, that was pretty knuckleheady. Bishoppendragon (talk) 03:32, 7 February 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.126.51.64 (talk)

i dont even care to see this movie now. Chun Li is Chinese character and the girl playing her is as American as Apple Pie. Its stupid. Plus Chun Li always keeps her hair up in buns like Pad may from Starwars. Yes I pay attention to detail. Im not going to see it now. They screwed the movie up big time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.34.111.9 (talk) 18:43, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

There are plenty of things to criticize about the film but the "American as Apple Pie" Kristen Kreuk is not from the United States but is Canadian, and of Chinese descent. -- Horkana (talk) 04:34, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
About the hair buns, artworks from the early nineties usually depicted Chun Li with different hairdos when she was outside the arena. Then in the mid nineties her depictions bacame flatter and she was only shown with her trademark buns. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.254.79.209 (talk) 14:42, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

Reception

I think it's time somebody to write about the critical reception of the film. It has 00% on Rotten Tomatoes and critics claim that the original Street Fighter with Van Damme was better than this one.

The Rotten Tomatoes score for the film keeps changing. It was at 4% when it was reviewed on the list of worst of the decade. It was at 6% in late 2010, and in February 2011 it seems to have gone up to 16% - your mileage may vary, Rotten Tomatoes sometimes confusingly shows different reviews and scores depending on what area you are in.
The article does have an adequate Reception section though. -- Horkana (talk) 13:42, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

Club Song

Who sang the song that was playing in the club? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.214.248.129 (talk) 06:13, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

UK release date

Release dates for the UK, Australia etc would be a nice addition. 81.23.56.24 (talk) 08:59, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

IMDB lists the release dates but besides not being considered a particularly reliable source the only really WP:NOTABLE release date is date it was released in the United States. -- Horkana (talk) 04:34, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

Box office

Is there any word on how the film fared at the box office? With its $60 million budget it's sure to have been a flop. Nite Owl II 07:15, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Joystiq has it coming in with 4.7 million .Tennoarashi (talk) 17:02, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Budget

User talk:Nite Owl II says the budget was $60 million but at the moment the article claims it was $50 million based on estimates from IMDB, which is not always a reliable source.

Unfortunately Box Office Mojo and The Numbers do not give any budget figures. Cinemablend puts the budget at "about $60 million" which could be an earlier figure than the one listed at IMDB. Darkhorizons says $50 million but I don't know if they are considered a good source. On bigger films Variety or the Los Angeles Times often have budget information but they might not have covered a direct to DVD film like this one. Anyone got any better sources? -- Horkana (talk) 04:34, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

Chun-Li's Father & Last name?

Is he named Huang or Xiang? He's never actually refered to by name in the film; Chun-Li has her last name listed as Huang in the newspaper Nash reads; while her mother's name is Jeanne Xiang (listed on the tombstone). I mean, yes - silly editing error, but has anyone officially stated what his name is? Tennoarashi (talk) 18:05, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

00:18:56 Jeanne Xiang, Mother's name on the tombstone
00:59:00 Huang, Father's name in the newspaper
00:59:06 Chun-Li Huang, Chun-Li's name on the newspaper
01:30:57 Huang ?????, Father's name on the tombstone
01:33:00 Xiang, Credit list
01:33:03 Jeanne Xiang, Credit list
Maybe her father's name is Huang Xiang, her name is Chun-Li Huang Xiang, see Arabic name...--zy26 was here. 13:02, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

epilogue or secret ending?

was there a secret or epilogue ending after the credits?SHINIGAMI*LOVE (talk) 19:15, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

No, there was none.Tennoarashi (talk) 20:55, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Is that part about shoryuken.com real?

That can't be real, it sounds too hilarious. 76.102.210.123 (talk) 04:35, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Where's the sequel?

I seen the movie and it's good but are we going to get the sequel if the DVD Release sale are good enough for the next street fighter movie with Ryu and Ken? --Lg16spears (talk) 05:20, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Something tells me we aren't getting a sequel {THANK HEAVENS}, because this movie was a total flop.

Something about an unrated version

There is an unrated version, so anybody wanna write what's in the unrated version? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.56.7.135 (talk) 19:42, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

plus the the unrated version comes with another disc about the origins comic movie--"I am an oktau and a baka at times but deny proven facts and you got a fight" comment added by Dragonmaster88 (talkcontribs) 20:01, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Awards

I've looked all over the Web for news about Chris Klein getting knighted, there is no news because it didn't happen, that needs to be removed from the Wikipedia page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mlauzon (talkcontribs) 21:44, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Plot

I think it should be rewritten totally but don't have time to do so myself and in anycase have only seen about 3/4 of the movie. --86.136.68.44 (talk) 23:02, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

I've fixed some of the plot. It's still not great, but I think it's a big improvement. --86.136.68.44 (talk) 00:28, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

Opening paragraph

Is it just me or are the opening paragraphs for movie articles just getting systematically more boring. Yes, it tells us where it's made, who directed it and who's starring in it. Has anyone thought about the fact that this info is already in the info-box (look to your right). Not one word on the level of adaption from the game or how it's different from the previous movie.

Call me crazy but I actually want to know about that stuff a little bit. --TheHande (talk) 20:30, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Genre

I can't find much information about the recent Street Fighter film being added as a crime film. According to this source: "A crime film is a type of film focusing on the lives of criminals. The stylistic approach ranges from grittily realistic portrayals of real-life criminal figures (crime drama) to the far-fetched evil doings of imaginary arch-villains (master criminal films.) Criminal acts are almost always glorified in these movies."[1]. This Street Fighter film focuses on the character Chun Li, who is not a criminal. I suggest we remove it. Andrzejbanas (talk) 13:01, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

From what I know, Batman fils are crime films and Batman is not a criminal. Chun-Li fights crime in this movie just like Batman does in his movies. 200.161.62.7 (talk) 14:05, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
Batman films such as Burton's, usually have the villain as the headliner over Batman himself. Roger Ebert himself points this out here ("Instead of one villain as the headliner...") and here ("Nicholson's Joker is really the most important character in the movie - in impact and screen time "). This is not the case for this film. Unless better sources can be found, I still suggest it be removed. Andrzejbanas (talk) 14:15, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
If there is no further suggestions otherwise and no other cites have come in, I'll be removing it from the article in a few days. Andrzejbanas (talk) 16:18, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
Think this way, If Silence of the Lambs is a crime thriller, this also is, Chun Li is Clarice the cop, and M, Bison is buffalo bill/hannnibal. None of the main characters of these two works (SF and SOTL) are criminals, but SOTL is considered a crime film, so should be SFLOCL. 200.161.63.217 (talk) 17:29, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
Then bring that up on that appropriate article. This has little to do with this article. Andrzejbanas (talk) 03:02, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
The "sources" cited are not reliable. In any case, the crime film genre is rather ill-defined. But if you go by Wikipedia's definition, then there's no way this film is a crime film. According to the article, crime films center around the villains of the story, and this film is about Chun-Li (look at the title, duh). It's a safer bet that the film is action movie, or even a martial arts film. --Jtalledo (talk) 22:28, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
Concur with Jtalledo. This film's major genre is not a crime film. I agree that it fits the action film genre better. Erik (talk | contribs) 22:32, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
Batman is considered a crime film at wikipedia, yet Batman is not a criminal. Silence of the Lambs is considered a crime film at wikipedia, yet there are no gangsters in SOTL. 189.46.188.194 (talk) 22:58, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
Let's not forget about Heat, whose main character is a police-detective not a gangster, Neil McCauley is a supporting role. Shawshank Redemption, the main character is innocent, not a gangster, yet andrezbanas insits in listin his film on te list of crime films. No country for old men is a crime thriller, is Lwelelyn Moss a gangsters? Chigurh is, but he is not the main character. Is the main character in Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 a gangster?. 189.46.188.194 (talk) 23:09, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
City of god a crime film, there is a big drug dealer in the movie, but he is not the main character, the main character is Rocket, who is iinnocent? Should we remove crime from City of God too? 189.46.188.194 (talk) 23:15, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
Let's see the plot summary here: "Fernando Meirelles' City of God is a sweeping tale of how crime affects the poor population of Rio de Janeiro. Though the narrative skips around in time, the main focus is on Cabeleira who formed a gang called the Tender Trio."source. I didn't mention any of the characters from those other films are gangsters, and we are talking about Street Fighter, not whatever other example you can bring up. If you have nothing else to bring up, I'm going to assume you are just trolling and will ignore your other advice. Andrzejbanas (talk) 23:40, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
I think you work at allmovie to be sucking their dick all the time andrzejbanas I gave sources, if seven is considered a crime film and list as one, Chun-Li is also a crime film because it's just crime-fighting in the entire movie. remove seven and no country for old men in the crime film lists because none of the main characters in the movie are criminals or gangsters. Seven is a crime thriller because if is an investigation film, so is sflocl.. 189.46.188.194 (talk) 23:45, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
I would advise you to stop attacking users based on edits on articles you don't agree with. It isn't going to convince anyone on your opinion here and will not change my mind either. Andrzejbanas (talk) 01:44, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
I think the lead genre should be action but there still has to be a CAT:2000S crime films as the movie has strong crime elements. 201.68.113.155 (talk) 17:46, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
For the record, It smells like sock puppeting, here. Andrzejbanas (talk) 21:49, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

If Batman movies are crime films and Batman is not a criminal, Legend of Chun-Li is also a crime film. Chigurgh (talk) 14:16, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
WP:OTHERSTUFF. The Batman films are equally about the criminals as they are about batman. This is not the same for this film. Andrzejbanas (talk) 14:25, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Wrong Allmovie cocksucker, This movie is well about M. Bison and his crime syndicate. You have never watched this film, Also how can this not be a gangster film when there are characters are gangsters? If this is not a gangster film No Country for Old Men is not either, because no gangster appears on-screen. Andrzejbanas is the kind of guy who trusts Allmovie too much, Imdb is more reliable than Allmovie even if it is user-contributed, because Allmovie lists the genre they think it is appropriate, not all those of which the film has. Chigurgh (talk) 14:28, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Also let's point out that silence of the lambs is not about the criminals but a cop yet it is considered a CRIME thriller. Please watch the movie and stop sucking dick of Allmovie. Chigurgh (talk) 14:33, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Wow. Please read WP:CIVIL and WP:RS/IMDB. I'd look into some definitions of the genre here: read about gangster films, here and here. Andrzejbanas (talk) 14:42, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Legend of Chun-Li fits all those descriptions, you'd know if you actually had watched the movie. 14:45, 4 October 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chigurgh (talkcontribs)
Not really as the film is about Chun Li who is not a gangster and it's not about M.Bison's character strongly. You are going to have to find better sources and stop attacking other editors for anyone to take these kind of opinions seriously. Sources I find simply say action film. here, here, here, here, and here.Andrzejbanas (talk) 14:52, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
If you actually read the sources I gave you, the book shows that the gangster is generally depicted in a glamorous case. This is not the case for this film. I don't know why you claim I have not seen the film either. I've provided sources for the genres, you have only brought opinions and have blatantly ignored rules. If you have no other evidence outside opinion, imdb, and being rude to me, i'll be reverting this edit.Andrzejbanas (talk) 15:07, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
What drives me nuts is that No Country for Old Men is considered a gangster film when no gangster appears on-screeb. Gangsters appear in the movie but just for few moments. How can NCFOM be a gangster film and not this one? Also, this movie is just as crime films as Batman because it gives strong focus on the criminals, as much as Batman films. Box Office Mojo is not reliable because they list Fight Club as crime, which it is not Also, you're turning wikipedia into Allmovie 2. 189.18.209.186 (talk) 22:33, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

Minor Plot detail

Maybe I'm just picky, but what is said in the article is that Balrog is impaled with a liquid nitrogen pipe. However, in the movie, the gas seems to be a hot gas, and he appears to have his face melted off. This is my logical conclusion, as his face definitely looked as if it was getting melted off and he keeps screaming like it too. People do not scream like that if they are being frozen or if they are being impaled. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.13.188.37 (talk) 16:02, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

Rotten Tomatoes

The film's RT score is only so high because of a glitch. Though twelve positive reviews are listed, only two are actually of the film itself. The remaining ten all lead to reviews of 2010's The Fighter. If the glitch were solved, the film would fall back to ~3.6%.75.61.65.87 (talk) 06:24, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
