Things needed to be found[edit]

Information that needs to be added to this article.

  1. Full publication history, the Edition Silvertrust page does not indicate who published the score initially and to date no copy is available via the IMSLP.
  2. Performance history, the composer page said the quartet received an award, details would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Reviews.

Seems to have been first published by B&Härtel in 1879. (HMB, 1879, p.320.) It was performed in Bonn in late 1880 or early 1881 (see https://books.google.com/books?id=50IvAAAAMAAJ&pg=PA58 ) though this was not necessarily its premiere. Schissel | Sound the Note! 13:21, 4 May 2015 (UTC) (A Google snippet, hard to trace quite well, seems to claim that the St Petersburg award was given to a second, sans opus, quartet by Fitzenhagen, pace Campbell, whose existence is also claimed by the IMSLP list- a list which however also seems to duplicate a number of works with opus number (e.g. cello concerto 4- which I have removed therefrom) in the same "without opus number" section, so I find the claim dubious.
