Article outdated by new constitution: now 26 instead of 11 provinces ?[edit]

Things which still have to be confirmed about these datas[edit]

The informations used for the French page (used for this one) were taken from various Internet sources. But they might be divergent, and things oftenly change. Not sure that they exactly know how their administration exactly works ...

About the districts/territories of this page :

Katanga : the exact status of Kolwezi must be establised. City and/or district? What is the higher subdivision ? / Still no answer Vberger 11:51, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Kasai's :Towns of Muene-Ditu and Tshikapa were created in 2003. I think territories still exist, but I am not sure. / It seems that they are now the new territories of Luilu and Kamonia. 11:51, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
Bandundu : the Plateaux district was created recently. The territories were the eastern part of the Mai Ndombe district.

Rewrite[edit]

I rewrote the article as it was long outdated. This is my largest wikipedia contribution to date and what a pain it was. I first wanted to focus more on the governance of the subdivisions and how they interrelated but with local elections never being held, I decided this would be too theoretical. I may later add a section on subdivisions that are not subnational entities such as electoral districts and health zones.

Translation Error?[edit]

I have already posted this in the 'Communes of the [DRC]' talk section, but thought I might reach more people here. Should 'commune' be translated to 'municipality' or does it refer to the same concept as it does in English? 'Territoire' and 'secteur' (for example) have their English equivalents shown ('territory' and 'sector'), but 'commune' has not been translated. Should it be 'municipality' in English and then (commune) beside it like the others, or is it already correct? I don't know much about the DRC, but personally 'municipality' makes a lot more sense than 'commune' does, especially when you consider how they are treated as subdivisions.
