Phrase makes no sense[edit]
The following phrase: "Or if you would like for your team to win then you put on a player termed the "super sub", or if you have two players who can change a game they are called "super subs", like super subs B and C." in the first paragraph makes no sense to me. Remove section on English and Scottish leagues?[edit]
There seems to be nothing exceptional about substitutions in English and Scottish leagues, yet there is a section in this article for this. Suggest to merge anything that is of global significance (such as first substitutions anywhere) into the main History section and then delete this section. --LukeSurl t c 14:31, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
When do substitutions occur?[edit]
The article and law indicate that substitutions occur during a stoppage in play and with the permission of the referee. Can we give any sense as to which stoppages in play a referee might give permission for? For example, if one team is poised to do a throw in, corner kick, or direct kick quickly, is the referee likely to not give permission for a substitution by the other team during that stoppage? If there is a typical answer to this question, can it be added to the article? —Quantling (talk | contribs) 19:36, 24 September 2021 (UTC)
In practise if a team is waiting to do a substitution the referee will allow this at the next stoppage, whatever the reason. This sort of 'typical practice' is hard to find citable sources for however. --LukeSurl t c 05:38, 26 September 2021 (UTC)
Reducing the Super Sub section[edit]
There are way too many players listed in the super sub section, can we cut down on that list? Some of them aren't even arguably super subs and some of them are too obscure/play for too obscure clubs to be relevant on a wikipedia page. I recommend cutting it down to just Origi for LFC and Wambach/Lloyd for the USWNT 2601:2C7:8500:5790:E969:D163:7956:17D4 (talk) 07:03, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
