Distinction of Sundaravalli from Valli

[edit]

This article exists to offer information regarding Sundaravalli, the daughter of Vishnu, as distinct from Valli, her incarnation on earth. As the creator of this article, I acknowledge that the Tamil folk goddess of Valli preceded the existence of Sundaravalli, but also observe that the latter developed to encourage the syncretism of Valli into Vaishnavism, and subequently, mainstream Hinduism. This is supported by a number of sources as cited in the article. I write this section because one user has encouraged the merging of this page with Valli, even though they are, as I have explained, different, albeit related characters. I propose that this article exist as it is. Please do offer your opinion below to maintain the status quo. Chronikhiles (talk) 10:20, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
