[edit]

Editing this article and then reverting it to it's previuos face is stupid because there are LINK articles that doesn't exist and I just bold it and make the page more attracting and organize.Manager0916 (talk) 06:36, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Realignment of articles to coincide with realignment of industry

[edit]

This is a joint discussion involving 2GO, SuperFerry, Negros Navigation, Cebu Ferries, and Supercat. Please put all your comments here at Talk:SuperFerry

This has been a major realignment of shipping in the Philippines which therefore necessitates a realignment of the various articles.

Over the last two years or so WG&A was dissolved with Aboitiz taking control of most of the logistics companies, and then selling those companies to Negros Navigation, which promptly was taken over by a Chinese government investment bank and renamed 2Go Group. Therefore we need to reorganize the various Wikipedia articles. I propose the following:

Superferry and Negros Navigation -- Keep articles but make them historical. Superferry no longer exists and Negros Navigation has changed so dramatically that it no longer is the company it used to be. Since both are long-lived, historical and historic companies with significant popular recognition there needs to be articles describing what these companies used to be

2Go -- the article is current occupied by an article on the air company. Move that to 2Go (Air) and then use the 2Go title for an article on the current 2Go Travel. The article name will be 2Go but will not be on the parent 2Go Group but on the more widely known 2Go Tavel -- the successor of Superferry, Negros Navigation, Cebu Ferries, and Supercat ferries. This is inline with WP:CommonName.

2Go Group, 2Go Logistics, etc -- write separate articles on parent company and each of the major, but not minor, corporate divisions.

So, we'll end up with articles on the historical brand names of SuperFerry, Negros Navigation, SuperCat, and Cebu Ferries, on the current brand name 2Go, and on the current parent company 2Go Group and the various major corporate divisions.--Bruce Hall (talk) 11:06, 26 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What happen to other company/corporations in other article that have undergone merging and other sort of. Like Equitable PCI BankBonvallite (talk) 06:57, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Good question. Of course, this was a buyout of Aboitiz transport group (which included SuperFerry among other holdings that had been spun off from WG&A) by Negros Navigation, with a simultaneous buyout of Negros by the Chinese government investment firm, followed by an entire re-branding -- a triple change of ownership before name change. Therefore the SuperFerry company, name, and structure doesn't exist anymore. But for examples, see J.P. Morgan & Co., Chase (bank), and JPMorgan Chase. See also Filene's, Macy's and Macy's, Inc.. See Sears, Kmart, and Sears Holdings. --Bruce Hall (talk) 13:55, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Some more articles. Norwest bought Wells Fargo but then changed its name to Wells Fargo. The main article is now under its current name of Wells Fargo while the old article is about the old brand name, see Norwest Corporation --Bruce Hall (talk) 08:13, 12 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Since there is no further comments, I will start by moving 2GO to 2GO (Air). I am undecided by the next step. We can either usurp 2GO per WP:USURPTITLE by moving SuperFerry there or we can just cut from this article and related articles those bits that should be pasted into a new 2GO article, supplemented by writing an introduction, transitions, and other parts as necessary. For more info see WP:MOVE, HELP:MOVE, and WP:TITLE --Bruce Hall (talk) 08:36, 12 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

How do we get from Aboitiz to SuperFerry?

[edit]

On the Aboitiz company website [1] is this sentence "In 1907, the company bought its first vessel, the Picket. Thus began the Aboitiz transport business." How did we get from there to SuperFerry? Anyone know the history, or better have a good source? That should be included here in a history section. (By the way, check out Aboitiz and you wil notice that there is no Aboitiz Group or any other similar article. So much work to do on Philippine articles (sigh)) --Bruce Hall (talk) 14:04, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in SuperFerry

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of SuperFerry's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "ReferenceB":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 11:28, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the gnoming. That would be http://www.supercat.com.ph/fullstory.asp?id=31 which, unfortunately, is a dead link. It's archived at http://web.archive.org/web/20090319011148/http://www.supercat.com.ph/fullstory.asp?id=31 though. I've fixed the orphan ref in this article and the dead link in both articles.
