Consolidation[edit]

Looking at the histories for Superman & Batman: Generations I and Superman & Batman: Generations II, it looks like a lot of information was lost when those two articles were merged into this one. Why is that? —scarecroe 15:19, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bruce Wayne's Wife[edit]

Isn't Bruce Wayne's wife and Bruce Jr.'s mother Julie Madison? I have a trade paperback of Superman & Batman Generations 1 and the 1939 story opens with Bruce Wayne flying into Metropolis with "Julie" right next to him. He calls her that saying, "[I can land my plance]] anywhere I want, Julie!" (Emphasis in original) In that she was Bruce Wayne's first love interest and even fiance appearing in Detective Comics #31 (September 1939) and the whole point of Generations is having the characters age in real time, matching their publication history with their "real" history," shouldn't "Julie" be Julie Madison?

The real Julie Madison broke up with Bruce on despairing that he had no purpose in life. She of course did not know he was Batman but here the man's wife definitely knows who he is. And since there is no indication of this Bruce Wayne having broken up with his Julie Madison--unlike the Golden Age Batman--doesn't that mean that Julie Madison has to be Bruce Sr.'s wife and Bruce Jr.'s mother? I stuck a citation needed tag after the claim that Bruce Wayne's wife, the mother of Bruce Jr, is "clearly neither Talia al Ghul or Catwoman." It is certainly kept a mystery throughout the stories, and it is clearly not Talia, as she appears elsewhere, but it is not so clear to me that she is not Catwoman. In fact, in the 1979 issue of Generations 1, the wedding announcement has a crease covering her name, but it does end with "..na," which could be Selina Kyle. It's made clear by a seeming throwaway line in the final story of Generations II, "2019: Father to the Man". Bruce says to Knightwing, "Catwoman retired years ago." Bruce's unnamed first wife apparently died in 2008(*). Ergo, if Catwoman is simply "retired", she cannot be the woman who Bruce and Bruce Jr. visit on her deathbed eleven years earlier. I've added citations for the issues that establish the approximate years of the mystery wife's marriage to Bruce and death, and for comparison, the years that Bruce meets Talia and mentions Catwoman's retirement.

(*)Note: I say "apparently died" because I have yet to read Generations III, but I know from this article that III revisits the "family reunion" at Mrs. Wayne's deathbed and events thereafter. If that story confirms that she dies soon after Bruce's and Bruce Jr.'s visit, that story and its issue number should be cited for her death instead of the story in Generations II #4. -- Pennyforth (talk) 15:26, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Citations Needed?[edit]

Right before the article starts, it says that this article needs citations added, although I'm not arguing about the need for citations, all citations for this article would just refer to the series discussed and so the need for citations is basically meaningless.--Spaced35 (talk) 00:21, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In this case, citations would be backing up specific, individual statements with a footnote of the series, issue number and story that they are drawn from. I removed the citation needed tag for a couple of reasons. (1) Nobody has pointed out any specific areas that need citations. If someone has an concern about a statement or claim within the body of the article, please tag that with a ^{[citation needed]} (2) If you mean that the summaries need citations, that makes no sense. The implication is that the summaries are of specific issues, and that's spelled out in the body of the article. Thanks. Konczewski (talk) 17:38, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

2929 vs 2919[edit]

While the cover of Generations 1, issue #4 shows "2929" as the year of the 2nd story, the internal title is actually "2919: Nineteen Twenty Nine" rather than, "2929: Nineteen Twenty Nine". (I'm going by the original issues not the TPB). At first I thought the "1" was just a typographical error, which I assume the writers of this article did as well. However the events of the final issue of Generations 3 is dated 2925 multiple times throughout the issue, while the events clearly are supposed to take place after those of Generations 1 #4. I'm not sure if this is an unintentional error in Generations 1 or if it is one of Byrne's intentional continuity "errors". Sentence clarification?[edit]

I am not sure exactly what this sentence was trying to convey; Could someone familiar with the creation of this content help clarify?

Bruce Wayne Jr. is stopped by his mother from going out as Robin with Batman II, while Kara Kent tries on her Supergirl costume for the first time. She flies to Wayne Manor to see BJ, who is unhappy with his situation. Supergirl points out that he promised not be Robin with Batman; he didn't say anything about Supergirl.
