Proposed edit to add references[edit]

Hello, I work with Suran, and wanted to help address the issues identified in the maintenance template on his page regarding citations. I have listed some references for the facts currently without citations below – it would be great if someone could consider these and implement (or I would be happy to help implement if someone approves, I have not directly edited for now given my potential perceived COI):

  • Asians in Tech article that confirms he was born in Sri Lanka, details about Searchspace and acquisition by Warburg Pincus, the fact he co-founded the Centre for Fashion Enterprise, and his OBE[1]
  • RocketSpace post that discusses a speech by Suran, noting him as an expert in ‘deep tech’[2]
  • Sunday Island article that notes his computing and artificial intelligence degree at the University of Sussex and his OBE[3]
  • BBC List of the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2005 recipients, that includes Suran as an OBE recipient[4]
  • Company check page that lists Suran as a Director of the Centre for Scientific Enterprise from September 2000 – August 2005.[5] Proposed edit: as I have not located a source for him as a founding director in 1999, propose an edit to remove ‘founding’ and change ‘in 1999’ to ‘from 2000 to 2005’
  • Financial Times article discussing the Centre for Fashion Enterprise, and mentioning Suran as the centre’s chairman and co-founder[6]
  • Newsweek article that discusses the Centre for Fashion Enterprise, and mentions it was founded by Suran[7]
  • IMDB page for Scenes of a Sexual Nature, that lists Suran as an executive producer[8]
  • British Films Directory page for Scenes of a Sexual Nature, that lists Suran as a producer[9]

I’d be happy to discuss these if there are any issues, and help to find alternatives if these sources are not sufficient. If/once they are acceptable, it would also be great if someone could consider whether the maintenance template is still needed, and either remove it or identify which facts are still missing verification. Many thanks! Stephkatep (talk) 12:50, 21 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Edit: updated to include a reference list, which will hopefully make it easier to implement if agreed. Stephkatep (talk) 01:50, 23 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Amended proposed edit to add references[edit]

Implementing the suggestion above from @Spintendo: a list of proposed changes to add citations is below.

A substantial edit of the article was carried out since my previous post - I have therefore just addressed the section noted to still require a citation, and the sections deleted for lacking citations (the facts from which I propose should be reinserted given references are available, at least in a condensed form). check Partially implemented Edit request proposal #2 implemented, without IMDb, which is generally discouraged as a source. Request #1 partially implemented: Goonatilake's directorship of the Centre for Scientific Enterprise could not be confirmed. The second sentence in the first edit request altered to remove insufficiently paraphrased text. Other elements of the article not carrying references were omitted. Citation needed inline template removed. As no unreferenced elements remain in the article, BLP sources template removed.  Spintendo  ᔦᔭ  21:17, 17 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
