I don't think it's right that the initial proof of Faltings's theorem used Arakelov theory. Charles Matthews (talk) 08:50, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- It didn't. But he was working on both proofs at the same time and the other one was completed first.John Z (talk) 21:05, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
Illness
[edit]I have removed the assertion and categorisation that Arakelov suffers from a particular disease in line with WP:BLP policy as being unsupported by any reliable source. Deltahedron (talk) 16:46, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
Nationality
[edit]The article currently describes him as a Soviet-Ukrainian mathematician of Armenian descent. An IP has just removed "Ukrainian" without explanation and I have restored it on the grounds that it seems correct if he was born in Kharkiv. But there seems to be no reference for any of the personal data. Per WP:BLP perhaps we should simply remove it all if it is contentious? Deltahedron (talk) 08:49, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
Sources
[edit]The article has no sources for Arakelov's biography : the book by Lang appears to contain no information about the person as opposed to the theory. Deltahedron (talk) 20:39, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
- Three months on, no sources have been found, and none of the other language articles have them either, except that the Rusian-language version links to this. I think this article might need to be removed per WP:BLP. Deltahedron (talk) 06:41, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
