For a class project, we will be adding multiple sections: common current meshes, medical uses, and biocompatibility and adding more information to the introduction. Lacking balance, especially with regard to negative outcomes

The article as it currently stands is written entirely from a technical/medical perspective and as such, it is of little use to consumers/patients seeking from Wikipedia a lay explanation of medical materials and processes. In particular, the article ignores the growing number of cases where there are significant and severe negative outcomes, especially in cases of pelvic mesh implants.

I don't presently have the time to make the necessary changes, which would require at least a whole new section. Nevertheless, here is a small selection from the many relevant sources, which may provide a jumping-off point for other editors.
