Proposed rewrite

[edit]

removed copyright vio at temp page. 198.24.31.123 (talk) 16:25, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your interest in helping, but I'm afraid that your proposed rewrite is not usable. As the template advises (emphasis added):

Note that simply modifying copyrighted text is not sufficient to avoid copyright infringement—if the original copyright violation cannot be clearly identified and the article reverted to a prior version, it is best to write the article from scratch. For license compliance, the new article cannot incorporate phrases and sentences that were placed in the original article by other contributors unless credit is given as set out at the copyright policy. You may, however, duplicate non-infringing text that you had contributed yourself. An administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved.

The rewrite also still contains pasted text. Note the following:

Her foundation supports early-childhood education for low-income families, the arts, reproductive health, and Christian organizations. Emphasis is on supporting organizations in Omaha, but other major beneficiaries in 2004 included DATA (Debt Aids Trade Africa) who received a grant of approximately €800,000.

With the exception of one changed word, this is pasted directly from [1]. Also, note the quote that's been taken from [2]. The person who pasted it here couldn't even be bothered to come up with his own attribution. :/ That's about as blatant as copy-pastes go. There may be other sources that have been copied. If you want to help, please rewrite the article from scratch. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:26, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Since the second rewrite you proposed was also not written from scratch, even including the quote and attribution from this link, I'm afraid I was not able to use it. However, I have prepared a starter article that is written from scratch. I appreciate your interest, but there are certain procedures we have to follow when rewriting articles that are tagged as copyright violations. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:08, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

One or more portions of this article duplicated other source(s). Infringing material has been rewritten or removed and must not be restored, unless it is duly released under a compatible license. (For more information, please see "using copyrighted works from others" if you are not the copyright holder of this material, or "donating copyrighted materials" if you are.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or published material; such additions will be deleted. Contributors may use copyrighted publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences or phrases. Accordingly, the material may be rewritten, but only if it does not infringe on the copyright of the original or plagiarize from that source. Please see our guideline on non-free text for how to properly implement limited quotations of copyrighted text. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with these policies. Thank you. Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:11, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
