Editing this page[edit]

Please feel free to add to the document, but discuss with other contributors any major reorganization you are planning on this Talk page before you do so otherwise it may be classed as vandalism. Please do not add content about Ms Sulley's private life, she is a very private person and doesn't introduce her private life into the public domain. This is likely to be gossip and libelous and it will be removed. Andi064 17:07, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Artist's Name[edit]

She apparently has never called herself Susanne Gayle although the media frequently do. She stopped calling herself Susanne opting for Susan instead around 1995 because it sounded less Juvenile. Her marriage didnt last long, so is she still called Gayle or has she gone back to Sulley again? Its hard to keep up with this woman! 86.132.47.144 01:38, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is one of the most frequently asked questions. Susan is a very private person and unlikely to give any guidence in what she wants to be known as. She certainly doesn't correct people when they get it wrong. So the only way to tell is by what Philip Oakey and Joanne Catherall are currently calling her on stage and to the media. Which at the last call (Xmas 2006) was Gayle

I know 100% she dropped Susanne in the mid 1980's. Also 'Suzanne' is the French spelling of the name which she has never used herself, although it appears frequently in print.

The official version (I.E what is in print) is this:

Born: Susan Ann Sulley 1963

She has called/calls herself:

  • 1980 - 1986 known as Susanne Sulley
  • 1986 - 2001 known as Susan Ann Sulley
  • 2001 - Present known as Susan Ann Gayle

Others (friends and media) still call her Susanne or Sue. and (frequently) Sulley

Cleanup tag[edit]

I've cleaned up as much as I can but whomever re-wrote this article has presented it like a artist fan page. The images are overkill, there is no reason to have so many and I question their source. The formatting was atrocious and this really needs to be looked over again. Same goes for just about all Human League-related articles. - eo 16:03, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed move of this this page to Susan Ann Gayle[edit]

  • As has been mentioned frequently on the Human League Forums[1] this page is in the wrong place and should be under Susan Ann Gayle.

Susan stopped calling herself Susanne in 1995 and changed her name to Gayle in 2001. SAG currenty is both her stage name and private name.

Therefore I concur that she should be listed under her current name on Wikipedia. I fully understand that most non Human League fans still know her as Susanne Sulley as that is the name she has the most Album/Single credits under. But a redirect will ensure they arrive at the correct page.

I propose to move the page in 7 days unless there are any strong objections Andi064 23:07, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Support - as Gayle is now her proper name and there are Human League albums crediting her as such, the article should be changed. Using the "move" function will automatically create a redirect from her old name anyway. - eo 15:55, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Page moved, per request. Cheers. -GTBacchus(talk) 06:51, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of change of professional name[edit]

I have been informed by Susan (via Simon of Sidewinder Management) that whilst her legal name remains Gayle for the time being (as she sorts out some issues). With immediate effect she wishes to be known personally and professionally as Susan Ann Sulley again. Therefore with immediate effect Susan Ann Gayle now becomes a historic name. This page has been moved to Susan Ann Sulley and all references to her post this date should use her current preferred name. The reasons behind this change are entirely private to Ms Sulley and should not be referred to in any article per policy in WP:BLP Biographies_of_living_persons#Presumption_in_favor_of_privacy.

For external reference purposes a brief mention of the change is made here [2]

Fair use rationale for Image:Sue DYWM.jpg[edit]

Image:Sue DYWM.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
