This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (it is a page of a public person and artist, just like other artists > see damien hirst, gerhard richter, ... within the art world you cannot talk about promotion because it is ART or would you consider that if you go to a museum you are looking at promotional advertising ? I think not! ) --Eps51 (talk) 14:44, 5 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Susan Hefuna is not only already mentioned in several entries already on Wikipedia, but I feel that it is unfair to describe the clearly laid out and scrupulously researched and accurate text as "promotional". In what sense is it more promotional than any of the other entries on living artists, such as Damien Hirst's, say? As to further suitability for her inclusion, she is mid-career and already in the collections of several important museums around the world and has had several international exhibitions of note.

One comment was that the references should be interwoven in the text itself, but your own editorial procedures insist that references appear clearly marked in their own section.

I am rather confused by what seem like highly subjective criteria for deleting entries.

Text such as :
Her German and Egyptian heritage and personal experiences inform her multilayered works, which aim to build bridges between cultures and reflect their differing traditions and peculiarities. Exploring cross-cultural codes, Hefuna constantly plays with what images mean and how they function, creating dream-like spaces to which viewers can attach a wide array of significance.
can only be interpreted as promotional. This is not language that actually informs me about her art; rather it is language that entices me to experience her art. This is not the purpose of Wikipedia. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:34, 5 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
She is clearly notable as an artist and as such we should have an article about her. I've quickly tidied up the article to save it from being deleted. I think Eps51 is a little confused by our referencing system - if they can go back and add inline references to show which information came from where it would be very helpful.
