While the Sustainable Communities plan is an amazing piece of legalistic framework, I don't see how they can fulfill their own goals of sustainability. The dense development that is socially expected in Britain is something that I don't see as in the long run sustainable -which raises the issue of what exactly it is... I think a sustainable community can be written about all it wants, and one will never be seen, but when one is built, you realize how it achieves and is limited to sustainable goals. The best example of a sustainable community I can think of, which is close to my home in the Chicagoland Metropolitan Area, is Prairie Crossing in Grayslake, which assuredly needs it's own Wikipedia page. If I get time, I'll write it, but I find that unlikely as my GIS teacher is a jerk and won't teach us how to do it; he much prefers yelling at foreign students and not teaching. At any rate, here is the website for Prairie Crossing. My greatest critique of it is that 1. it is probably not diverse because of my other critique which is that 2. it costs a lot comparatively speaking to live there (middle to upper middle class, heh.) http://www.prairiecrossing.com/pc/site/index.html Peace.

Out of date references

[edit]

All three of this page's references direct to a 404 error page. Someone who knows what these references actually were should re-direct the links to the pages' new locations or otherwise find new references. --142.177.173.215 (talk) 20:09, 27 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have tagged the references as dead - hopefully someone else will come along and fix them. Keith D (talk) 21:06, 27 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
