There is no pronunciation, but Cyrillic translation is wrong

[edit]

"SMART" doesn't make sense. In Russian death is pronounced 'smyert'. The "small b" in Cyrillic softens the previous letter although often short "e" when vocalized. TaylorLeem (talk) 22:14, 12 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Bulgarian and Russian pronunciation is not the same, the letter "ъ" (big yer) functions as a vowel in Bulgarian while it's soundless in Russian. Bulgarian "ъ" sounds like a schwa, definitely not an "e" or anything similar. This may be an old comment, but it's quite ill-informed and gives a wrong impression, so I hope this clarifies the issue for anyone visiting the Talk page. 37.130.245.149 (talk) 02:11, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Jingiby in regards to your revert:

- My first edit replaced one name of Yugoslavia to a much more suitable and more used one and calibrated a sentence per a given source. I do admit that the third part should be revised.

- My second edit deleted a source, which by the looks of the given paragraph, does not mention the slogan at all. The edit also removed irrelevant information i.e that the slogan is the same as the Serbian Chetnik one, which is coupled by a source which, given by the stated paragraph of the source, does not mention anything related to the slogan, and I suspect it's POV-pushing.

- My third edit reformulated a part of a sentence to use more neutral language, which is also more in-line with the given source. It also deletes a source which neither mentiones the slogan nor the memoirs and documents of the IMRO, according to the presented paragraph.

- My fourth edit removed a part of a sentence which is not sourced by any of the presented paragraphs of both the source I deleted and the other source.

- My fifth edit removes both POV-pushing and a source which does not mention any IMRO memoirs according to the presented paragraph.

- My sixth edit removes a sentence and two sources which don't back up the sentence - frankly the slogan is not mentioned anywhere to my knowledge.

- My seventh edit uses more neutral language to describe the situation, as well as fixing grammatical mistakes. Kluche (talk) 21:34, 14 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kluche. After the reasoning thus presented and a careful reading, I agree with the proposed changes in the name of greater neutrality, except for one. That one that removes the information that the slogan was presented as written in Macedonian and that the Bulgarian side protested these claims. Indeed, in the specified 2 sources which are in the article now, this is not mentioned explicitly, but they refer to this very event. It concerns a historical exhibition in Belgrade. Otherwise, sources can be added explicitly mentioning the fact that the slogan was presented there as written in Macedonian one and that Bulgaria withdrew from the exhibition in protest. For example: https://www.standartnews.com/balgariya-politika/skandal_na_izlozhba_v_belgrad_nim_se_otteglya-203939.html and also: htps://www.flagman.bg/article/52856. On both places it is explicitly mentioned that the slogan "Freedom or Death" written on the flag of the Krushevo Republic was presented in Belgrade as being written in the Macedonian language, and the Bulgarian side disputed this claim. In the first source is a text: Проф. Димитров подчерта... че "Текстът на знамето e на чист литературен български език и гласи "Крушевска революционна чета. Свобода или смърт". В каталога обаче пише, че е на македонски език. and in the second: Министърът на културата Петър Стоянович коментира избухналия вчера скандал с международната изложба в сръбската столица, където под експонат за Гоце Делчев бе написано, че е македонски национален герой, а знамето на „Крушевската република“ и текстът на него „Свобода или смърт“ бе определно за „манифест на македонския език“. So I propose that this text remains. Regards. Jingiby (talk) 04:49, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @Jingiby,
I suggest that the two sources in the article be removed, and replaced with the ones you've presented. Best regards. Kluche (talk) 06:07, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
