How to get this article from C to B

[edit]

A request was put at Wikipedia:WikiProject Sweden/Assessment saying "This article was recently assessed C-class. How could it be improved to B-class?". The article is of generally good quality; language, layout and inline references. The reason I reassessed it for WP:SWEDEN from Start to C, rather than B, was basically the length in relation to the potential size of the subject. (Last time I checked, MilHist hadn't implemented C-class, so that's why it remained Start for them.) This is also supported by the WPMilHist rating, which currently says it clears four out of five criteria for B-class; the missing criteria (B2) is "Coverage and accuracy". I think that the article could be expanded in the following areas:

  • Outline of pre-1994 history. Although an article on the agency created in 1994, a complete article would have a few words to say about the predecessor FortF, and about the history of the fortifications/real estate stock FortV "inherited" when it was created. Perhaps a few words about when the major construction campaigns were in the post-1945 era, and things like Berga, the wartime airbases and so on were built. I'm thinking 5-10 lines or so, with references, on this.
  • Perhaps a sentence or two about the fact that Försvarsmakten, as far as I know, also uses non-FortV real estate for offices and so on? (Is there a % to be shown?)
  • The role of FortV in the Swedish defence drawdowns since the 1990s. Has much previous real estate been sold? Environmental cleanup when facilities have been closed? Also, I think there has been some criticism from the Swedish Armed Forces and defence politicians for the real estate costs staying constant or growing despite dramatic reductions in the number of garrisons. When backed up by reliable sources, such criticism deserves to be mentioned in the article.

If most of this were to be covered, I would gladly reassess it to B-class! Tomas e (talk) 16:46, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

    • Thank you for your comments. I will—in due time—search for these material, and insert it into the article if it can be found. Presumably it can though. Thanks again! --Marcus 06:35, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
