New study[edit]

Fascinating new report states that the Swing Around the Circle actually reduced Republican vote share and increased Democratic vote share. https://apsa2021-apsa.ipostersessions.com/?s=D0-70-88-B5-4A-AA-2B-25-F9-19-D7-76-D9-94-0C-1A

Looks like we should have something including this study given how much it runs counter to the prevailing narrative expressed in the article.

@Dingers5Days: I do not think this was peer-reviewed. I am not actually sure that if was more than a student project. If it had been published in a reputable journal, or even perhaps a reputable magazine or newspaper I'd be more eager to pull the trigger. And, honestly, this could be a case of correlation, not causation. The report does not seem to take into account alternate explanations for why (per the findings it presents) the areas that Johnson traveled too saw a larger Republican swing than areas that he did not. An easy alternate explanation is the possibility that he chose to travel to areas where Republicans had better chances of picking up support. I mean, that's what politicians usually do, they don't waste time in areas that they have miniscule chances of electoral success in. SecretName101 (talk) 22:45, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
