Draft Dodger

I read that Stallone evaded the Vietnam war draft in the 1960's by moving to Switzerland. [1] (near bottom of page). Does anyone know if this is true? Adam Haaretz

Yes this is true. It's funny how draft dodger Stallone went on to make the gung-ho Rambo movies in the conservative 80s, and was received at the White House by President Reagan.

There was an amnesty for draft dodgers and i don't blame him, he wouldn't have been fighting for his country in Vietnam because it posed no threat to the U.S. he was smart to get away to a neutral country

...and isn't one of the main themes of the First Blood films that John Rambo has been destroyed and betrayed many times by his country? In creating a War hero that is no longer a functioning person, Stallone seems to continue his criticism of the Vietnam War and it's effects. His birthday

I heard on the radio yesterday and today that his 60th birthday was yesterday, so June 6th, not July 6th. What's that confusion? When is his birthday? Are there references that state it's July and others that state June. If that's the case, that should probably be mentioned in the article. Does anybody know more about this? Many articles confirm that this script was written in three days, but I can't find anything that says he painted his windows black, so I'll remove that for now. --Daniel Olsen 23:38, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Stallone has recently taken part in a 20-day, 200-question Q&A session at Ain't It Cool News where he personally answers questions asked by fans. Along with many amusing anecdotes, He has also cleared up quite a few rumors.

He talks about the script being written in three days here (refer to question 4) and here (refer to question 10). As for the windows being painted black, he talks about that here (refer to question 6 in the first half).

Personal Life Section

Stallone is listed as a Jewish-American actor. This is somewhat true as his mother has some Jewish heritage. Stallone, however, is a self-avowed catholic, as other pages (and wikipedia) attest:

Tobacco Document

There was an image of a "tobacco document" embedded in this article which appears to be an agreement to show certain tobacco products in the Rocky films. While that's fine and dandy, this image really needs some explanation—it's not a photo or other generic, easily-identifiable image. Please add some background if you add the image again.

Lazy eyes

His trademark sneer, double lazy eyes, and slurred speech are the result of paralysis in the left side of his face caused by birth complications.

No its not trivia. Trivia is something extraneous - irrelevant or trivial. His features are definitely very relevant and very important to an actor.

Birth location?

Football fan

In an interview with the BBC at a recent film preview he said that yes and this ...

Birthname

Two names have been added recently as birthnames; Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone and Michael Enzio Sylvester Stallone, neither with citations. I can find proof for neither (Michael Enzio finds little but Wikipedia links), so I've removed them and will continue to do so unless they are sourced. SteveLamacq43 14:27, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Pulp Fiction

Sly turned town "Pulp Fiction (role of Butch Coolidge that later went to Bruce Willis)"

I think a citation is needed for that, as Michael Madsen was originally cast in the role, but couldnt do it due to other acting obligations (Free Willy). Willis was asked straight away to do the role instead, he agreed on the basis that he could Produce as well, which he did.

I aint ever heard about Sly being involved with Pulp Fiction, would like a reference please, otherwise change it, it rings of speculation

A sub section on his career from 2000 to 2003

I have just added a small sub section about his films from 2000 to 2003 when his career was in decline with flops like Get Carter, Driven and D-Tox. It is notable to have this section as his career was considered dead during these years when he had one flop film after the other before his recent comeback Shakirfan 22:43, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Refused Lead Roles

Quoting from article, one of the lead roles stated as refused by Stallone: "Jackie Brown (Max Cherry role that later went to Robert De Niro)." Agoraphobia?

Stallone's "Trivia" section states:

Agoraphobia isn't really a fear of crowded spaces though, and it could well be that it is the correct term, although it's also possible that the whoever added it just used the wrong term. Probably best to find a citation to clarify. - 85.210.11.39 23:58, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Muscular body achieved with no effort

As far as I know, to build a heavily muscled body like those of Sylvester, Arnold, Van Damme, it takes years of training and eating high quality food. That's why I find it very intriguing that one animal, the gaur, can actually build that very body simply by...eating grass:

Notable Roles

F.I.S.T and Nighthawks remain some of his best movies he's made. It doesn't have the world wide recognition like Rocky or Rambo, but similar to Cop Land, they both have good casts and are regarded as some of his best performances. Just because you feel they aren't doesn't give you the right to say what is well known and what is not.

Birthdate?

As it was today a question in geman edition of "who wants to be a millionaire" (who was born on the same day as President Bush?) i noticed that Wikipedia says his birthday is the eight of july, while IMDB states, it would be the SIXTH. What's right?

Stallone's Age

Stallones Record of Military Service

I notice theres no reference to the controversy of his going to Canada in order to avoid the Vietnam war draft. I beleive this should be addressed given the actors history of playing fast and loose with the portrayal of Vietnam vets.

Italian Stallion and Score

I object to the use of the words "pornographic" (relating to the film) and "semi-pornographic" (relating to the play). "Pornography" is a broad definition which includes softcore, but it is generally associated with hardcore pornography (i.e. unsimulated sexual acts). As it is established that Sylvester Stallone did not actually have sex on camera, I suggest that we stick to the term "softcore", which aptly describes the film (and, having seen the film - poor me - I'd say it qualifies as very soft porn). As for the "semi-pornographic" adjective relating to Score, I find it even more confusing than "pornographic" : does it imply that the play had lots of sex scenes ? Or that Stallone actually had sex on stage ? We should just classify the play as "erotic" and not use definitions which could be deemed as too broad or confusing.
