T-155 Firtina may not be a license production[edit]

I have found that Turkey is actually not license producing, but rather importing subsystems from Korea directly, then assemble in Turkish factory with made in Turkey components. The amount $1.6 M tag is the Turkey paid per vehicle for the subsystems at that period of time (and it was 45% of entire T-155 value in terms of money). The first batch of 24 vehicle deal was $65 million paid to Korea for subsystem, which is $2.7 million per vehicle. If we apply it to $1.6 million and 45% of total value, we can find that Turkey was relying on Korean subsystems by 75% for the first batch with simple calculation disregarding any other factors. We can also assume that Turkey is gradually decreasing reliance on Korean subsystems, replacing with other options: either domestically researched, from transferred tech, or from 3rd party. Please check K9 Thunder#Export as I updated more history background of T-155 Firtina sales & development. In conclusion, Turks saying "T-155 Firtina is not licensed" is true statement as they import rather than license produce; Koreans saying "T-155 Fritina is K9 variant" is also true as Koreans are heavily involved in the project, and it was pretty much installing Turkish requirement and parts into K9, not vice versa. Extremely short period of development & tests also suggest that Firtina was born near complete since the beginning. Kadrun (talk) 04:36, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Read the following, and will have to summon mod to stop this IP guy if one more revert is made.
  • 1999-11-18 : S Korea and Turkey to co-produce K9 Thunder[1]
  • 2000-05-31 : Again, co-produce[2]
  • 2001-07-20 : 60 mil worth of parts sales for 2 year period, which hopefully extend to 1 billion worth for around 300 Firtina by 2011.[3][4][5]
  • 2001-07-20 : Turkey designed the structure of the howitzer, and will use Korean parts to build in Turkey.[6]
  • 2001-07-21 : MOD of S Korea announces the parts sales of the howitzer to Turkey. Turkey will use the part to build the howitzer in Turkey.[7]
  • 2001-07-31 : Samsung Techwin confirms the parts sales.[8]
  • 2002-02-05 : Parts sales.[9]

All confirms the parts sales + assembled in Turkey. I have no idea why that IP guy ignores 1st hand source referred statements from MOD and Samsung Techwin? According to that person, random article is worth more than announcements from the MOD and the manufacturer. Kadrun (talk) 04:31, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
