Telegraph Agency of Communications and Report[edit]

Телеграфное агентство связи и сообщения (i.e. the Telegraph Agency of Communications and Report) never meets (zero times) in russian internet. Today all russians think (and I think it is true) that TASS is still Telegraph Agency of the Soviet Union. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.49.207.146 (talk) 15:32, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not at all, the Soviet Union was collapsed in December 1991. --85.78.180.184 (talk) 12:28, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting to TASS?[edit]

According to this article, ITAR-TASS's organizing committee has approved a change in the agency's name back to TASS, pending government approval. Confusingly, the article doesn't mention «Телеграфное агентство связи и сообщения», only «Телеграфное агентство Советского Союза». I'm not sure how the agency could be the Telegraph Agency of the Soviet Union when there's no Soviet Union, but that's what the article says. I'll leave the edit to someone better informed than I am (and/or whose Russian is less rusty). —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 04:06, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Propaganda[edit]

There is widespread agreement that TASS is an outlet for Kremlin propaganda. Should this be mentioned on the main page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.129.203.77 (talk) 15:54, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Delete subsection: 2023: Russian News Agency TASS[edit]

This subsection contains no citations or references, contains strange (biased?) language (I.e. democratic Christian country) and numerous spelling errors (no capitalization in Russian etc.). It also has very strange sentence structure, to the point that understanding what has been written is difficult. Am I good to delete this subsection or should we try to rewrite it?
