Was that actually Stephen Hawking, or just the use of the same voice synthesizer software? I always assumed the latter. David | Talk 21:52, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He does appear in the pre-credits sequences where he exchanges insults with Victor (and once a Dalek), so there's some visual evidence
TV Offal is "the mechanically-recovered meat of television". It's simple enough to take some videotape of Stephen Hawking from some other programme and make him appear to be next to Victor. Although I know Stephen Hawking does have an odd sense of humour and might well have said "Yes" if he had been asked to take part. David | Talk 14:36, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Would'nt the case have involved using a "special thanks to..." credit when using footage of Hawking? similar as crediting Terry Nation's estate for use of the Daleks?

It's hard enough he does'nt have a definitive voice to tell whenever or not it's him, or a characteristic besides his condition, the only way I can tell he makes cameos in The Simpsons and Futurama is when they announce it officially, but there's probably been plenty of obscure comedy peices Hawking has been involved in without much fanfare or publicity, Tv Offal, and many of them though, may be too obscure to ever attain full confirmation on this unless one wants to e-mail Smith himself and risk his venomous piss-taking ^_^

That reminds me - I might have the email address for John Warburton, Victor Lewis-Smith's producer - he will know. David | Talk 21:42, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

POV?

[edit]

There a comment in the article about their replaying of old adverts that says; "and an advert for the now discontinued Diocalm which now seems extremely racist." Here's a link to that sketch below, it does not seem racist at all, the only thing he says is "Holidays abroad? Never again" there's no singled out race, name calling or anything like that simply the generic mention of "Abroad", maybe a little bigoted but not directly racist.

I think this line should be removed or changed as saying it is a POV issue that may be pandering to unwarranted sensibilities and could cause the reader to assume this is true without seeing the clip.

Assassination Of The Week : Park Chung-hee

[edit]

There were 2 different assassination attempts on him (in 1974 and 1979) - he survived the first but not the second. The article should specify which one was shown in the series (the 1974 one if he survived like it says he did). Or at least state that each one shown in the series was an attempt in a particular year etc - again to make clear that the ultimate assassination outcome then stated by Smith only related to the particular one shown. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mr gobrien (talkcontribs) 14:47, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
