Tabula Rasa

The phrase "tabula rasa" is rarely used in modern media, so much so that a large portion of the population would not understand the meaning. Despite this, two "unrelated" media releases occurred with the same title on the same day. While there is no proven connection (nor is there proven to be no connection) between the show and the game, the fact remains that this is a very interesting coincidence. I feel there should most certainly be a note made stating that the release dates coincide, maybe even with something along the lines of "though to date there is no known connection".

As a hypothetical situation, say someone is writing a paper on the business dynamics of television show production, and they are taking Stargate Atlantis as a case study. While I don't condone citing Wikipedia as a valid reference, it is most assuredly a good "first-approximation" to whatever you are researching; a kind of jumping-off point. This person comes to WP in search of information regarding these business practices; wouldn't they want to know of this coincidence? This would allow them to dig deeper and do more research and figure out if there actually is a connection or not. If they find one (or don't), they may even be so kind as to update the article along the lines of "The dates were chosen to coincide because of a contract signed on blah blah blah" or even "Despite the coincidence of these dates coinciding, the producers have confirmed that there is no connection to the popular video game", both of which would be useful improvements.

As another hypothetical situation, say a fan (of either the game or the show), or even someone else, has an opportunity to speak with the people in charge. If they are unaware of this connection, they can't ask anything about it. Just because not all the details of a particular fact are known yet (i.e. why, how, when, etc.) doesn't mean that fact is useless. Make a note of it, and SAY that the details aren't known. Nope. Sorry, but to our knowledge there's no connections between the two events and, though you won't get any argument from me that it is interesting and a curious coincidence, the fact is that it really isn't connected to this episode at all except for a similar title, and there are so many TV shows/movies/video games/etc. that share titles and we can't list "see also" without some more content. Again, I'm not trying to indicate that there is a connection, simply noting the fact of the coincidence. I know you're not trying to say there is a connection or anything, it's just that, without such a connection, it doesn't pertain to this article. Interesting coincidence it may be, but it doesn't relate to this episode in particular, the series in general, or the writers/actors/producers involved in either; there's really no reason to include it apart from the fact that its "interesting," and Wikipedia isn't meant to include interesting but irrelevent tidbits. Dutch extra?

Despite the many nationalities on the Atlantis project, one of the nationalities never shown on screen yet is the Dutch one. However, we know that an extra exists with a Dutch character nationality (David Nykl confirmed that on two conventions) but I have yet to spot him or her.

Watching "Tabula Rasa" today, I saw an extra pass by with a red/white/blue flag patch on the shoulder, 22:10 into the episode. Camera time was very brief, and the character moved too fast to confirm it was a Dutch person or another nationality with a similar flag. Later in the episode, a person with a similar flag passed by in several scenes as #4 on Lorne's strike team, but he seemed to be carrying a Paraguay flag in close-up (which is similar to the Dutch flag but carries a crest in the center). I am as yet unsure whether this is the same actor, still waiting for the HD version to confirm. Stoney3K 00:47, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
