As an original member attending the original training session in November, 1975, the line should read:

         "This Unit was originally trained by the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment (3RCR) at Canadian Forces Base, Petawawa, Ontario, subsequently trained by FBI Hostage Rescue Operations instructors from the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and guidance from British SAS instructors."

Neutrality[edit]

I'm minded to put a {{NPOV}} template on this article, as it presents this unit as a benevolent force, but many of the sources found here and here address allegations of excessive force by this unit, especially in the Ipperwash Crisis. I think this whole article needs rewriting to concentrate more on the public face of this unit than its internal training procedures. 86.17.222.157 (talk) 16:29, 12 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I've given it a shaking out and added some sources. More can clearly be done though. Overwhelmingly, the criticism I found relates to Ipperwash (and by extension to the treatment of First Nations protests).
