absences and losses
[edit]Absences due to injury are not losses as there is noone to lose against as no match up is given when the wrestler is absent. Also a Fusenpai is a loss to another wrestler due to injury and such a loss will appear as a "proper" loss. A wrestler appearing for three days and withdrawing on the fourth, will receive a fusenpai loss only on the fourth day and afterwards he will be considered absent. It is only true to say that an absence contributes to a loss in terms of promotion and demotion. Nashikawa 21:39, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
- You are, of course, correct. I felt that it was important, for the sake of the casual reader, to specify that the third number in a rikishi's record indicates kyujo losses, since most sports put draws in this column. Since there are no longer any hikiwake in sumo, I felt this was an appropriate distinction. Thanks for your diligence! -Tadanisakari 04:09, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
- No worries, my main concern was with the fusenpai loss aspect which has a very specific meaning in my view. Cheers Nashikawa 22:29, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Photo Link
[edit]The link for Takanohana and Michael Jackson doesn't work. Does this photo exist, and just the link is bad, or what?柱 18:44, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
Quality of photo in infobox
[edit]Found a photo of Taka II on Flickr, but it's of low quality so remove it if you feel like it. Kaiketsu (talk) 19:25, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- I think it improves the article and I'm happy to let it stay! Pawnkingthree (talk) 21:49, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
Since no one has objected to the photo in about a week after it was uploaded, I'm gonna remove the request template for a photo. Kaiketsu 21:42, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
Top Division Record and retirement
[edit]I have noticed that the records of rikishi who retire during a tournament do not show a red final tournament box (as the key suggests they should). I cannot determine how to get this to occur automatically when retirement is indicated, but that would be the ideal solution. Does anyone know the appropriate contact for such an issue? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Moretz (talk • contribs) 23:26, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- The tournament tables were designed by Csernica and he is aware of this problem, but unfortunately he's on a long wikibreak at the moment. I don't have the technical know-how to fix it myself sadly. Pawnkingthree (talk) 12:56, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- Well I did work it out, prompted by the GA review. Wasn't that hard actually!:)Pawnkingthree (talk) 22:59, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
GA
[edit]I'm thinking of submitting this for Good Article status. Thoughts anyone? Pawnkingthree (talk) 14:27, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
I gave it a good look and I think it has achieved GA status. The only thing that would make it perfect is a jpg from his sumotori days; but that is a lot to ask as he retired before the wikipedia age. FourTildes (talk) 22:39, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- Yes the photo could be better but I don't know of a free alternative. Have gone ahead and nominated it.Pawnkingthree (talk) 08:41, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
- I'm taking a look at this and reviewing it now, will post my findings shortly. Wizardman 16:40, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
GA Review
[edit]This review is transcluded from Talk:Takanohana Kōji/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.
Alright, this article is mostly good, though here's a few issues:
- The last sentence in the lead feels kinda odd in terms of flow with the rest of the lead. Fine for a lower paragraph, but is it necessary in the lead? Maybe a short, second lead paragraph to explain family issues would be good.
- I've decided to remove the sentence, if you don't think it's necessary. The lead is now a bit longer anyway. I can have a go at writing a "family issues" paragraph if you prefer though.
- In 1995-1997, "Takanohana had a solid but aggressive style, looking to get a right hand grip on his opponents' mawashi and move them quickly out of the ring." sounds like a sentence that should go in the lead, rather than there.
- I've moved that sentence and the one after it to the lead.
- Double check that all refs have a space after them. I think I caught them all though.
- Thanks, I didn't notice any of those! I've gone through and corrected a couple more.
- In the table, i think the last box is supposed to be red.
Besides those issues, the article's very well written. I'll put the article on hold and keep an eye on it. Wizardman 21:59, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
- Looks a lot better now. There's a couple things that would cause me to oppose an FAC (some more refs in the early life section, for example, could help), but as far as a GA goes this article pases. Well done. Wizardman 23:37, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
